Are you using version 2.0 or the beta of 2.5? We greatly improved the login process in the coming 2.5 version, so you should give it a try if you still have the problem. See http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/msg/?th=29279&start=0 for more details.
If you still have the problem, I am interested in looking at the "log file". Send us a bug report using http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/contact/smallworld-beta
Thanks in advance,
Yann @ DOW
Well i tried reinstalling and i assume it is the 2.0 version. still when i click the login button in settings, nothing happens. it used to automatically log me in with my steam account. so confused right now.
A number of login issues were fixed in the coming 2.5 version.
So far, our working theory is this: for some reason, the app is unable to write the preferences file in C:\Users\<your name>\App Data\Local\Days of Wonder\SW2Executable\
Locate this folder. Is there a "UserDefault.xml" file in it? If there is none, it would confirm our theory. Open the properties of the SW2Executable folder and verify that you have all the rights on it (Security tab). If not, correct the situation.
Start the game and quit it. Verify if a "UserDefault.xml" file was created or updated.
We'd like to hear back from you about this.
Thanks in advance,
Yann @ DOW
still can't play online, should i delete it and see if a new one is created?
edit: i deleted the file, a new one was created after opening the game but i'm still getting the same error
The first one should contain your DOW Login Name, the second one your encrypted password, and the third one your DOW numerical ID.
<userDefaultRoot>
<shouldAutologWithPartner>true</shouldAutologWithPartner>
<DOWlogin/>
<DOWMD5Password/>
<sessionId/>
<kickStarterPackAvailable>false</kickStarterPackAvailable>
</userDefaultRoot>
These are all of the contents in the file^
Could you please check if your account has full access on the file and on its folder?
If you are still unable to fix it, could you please contact me at http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/contact/account-problem/ and give me 1) your Days of Wonder account name and 2) your Steam ID (you can use http://steamidfinder.com/ to find it). I will be able to cook you a file.
Thanks in advance,
Yann @ DOW
