Uplay Backup?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows, Blacklist is something stupid like 19gb, Itl take me forever to download it,. My friend who is on super internet said he would do it for me but i have a question.

Can he download it using uplay at his and then can i restore from backup (Steam Stylie) at mine. We do it al the time with steam but i cant figure out uplays way. It was pre ordered via uplay not steam.

Hi, I tried to download the game AC-BlackFlag, you said first it will download and then you can install, but I can tell by the amount of file numbers that its installing the game.

Hi, I tried to download the game AC-BlackFlag, you said first it will download and then you can install, but I can tell by the amount of file numbers that its installing the game.

I don't know if they changed it but before it worked the way I said.

Well, if anyone is still looking for help on this, I figured out a way, the AC4 way listed in the links above didnt work, because when you begin downloading Blacklist, it doesnt create the necessary save folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\ which is one of the things you need to do it the way listed. Instead, I did this:

1. Install Uplay
2. Copy the entire directory of actual game files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist™ folder from your old Hard drive, and put them on the new HDD in the same folder (after installing Uplay).
3. Open a plain text document and enter this:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist™]
"installdir"="C:/Ubisoft/Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist™"

NOTE:If you are using 32-bit windows, remove the Wow6432Node part
Then save the file as a .reg file instead of a .txt file. It doesnt matter what the name of the file is.

4. Open Registry editor (Start Menu> Run > just type REGEDIT.
5. Import the Registry file you saved into registry. (Import is under File) Now close regedit
6. Open Uplay, and Go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist™\src\SYSTEM folder, and click the Blacklistgame.exe file.
7. Your game will start, and sync with the cloud so you'll have your savegame, and all your Uplay achievements saved, but for some reason, you have to start the game from this icon(or make a desktop shortcut), when I try to launch from Uplay, it just tries to keep downloading the game. Hope this helps, would love to know how to get Uplay to recognize the game files!

Just in case anyone happens to have a similar question in the future.
What you have to do is, download, the game, but DONT INSTALL . then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\).

inside there is a cache folder and inside it, instaler, inside instaler there will be a numeric folder wich is the download, copy this folder (not just the contents of it) somewhere else or burn to a blu ray,

you must not install becouse if you do, uplay will remove the game installer and then the cache folder.

I think your method is useless in most cases, because in my case I want to back up NOW, not re-download the game, that's not a really back-up, what happen if I want to back up the game and not have the setups?

Then buy your games on steam.

I wrote this because I was sick and tired of not being able to backup my games. And it was a pain in the back side to do it manually. So, I wrote a programme that would do it all automatically for me.

It backs up your Uplay games, once they have been fully downloaded. And make nice little re-installation packages. It however will no re-install to a system that does not have Uplay installed.

It will not ask, or collect your Uplay account info. It doesn't require it.

If you want to give it a demo, and let us know how it goes.
