Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist

What the heck is with these 1 PM Eastern Time launches for Steam games??? Why not Midnight??? Also, pre-loading of games over a certain GB size should be required on Steam for poor internet connections.
Well I just checked the store page for Blacklist and it says "Approximately 19 hours" for launch which would make it around 1:00 PM Eastern Time for launch, what is with these 1 PM launches??? Why not Midnight Eastern Time????

Well one good thing about pre-ordering the deluxe edition of Blacklist is you get a free copy of the deluxe edition of Conviction, I guess I'll do a single player playthrough of Conviction, I'm sure the single player campaign of Conviction is long enough to play though until the Steam launch of Blacklist, but this means hours of download time and wasted hours of not playing because the game is downloading....

Steam, for games over a certain GB size such as this game that says 25 GB of HDD space required, please require from the publishers pre-loading for people who have poor download speeds from their ISPs such as mine...

I have Comcast and their download speeds aren't as fast as other ISPs here in America.

If a game is supposed to be released on a certain day, the earliest EST can get it is 3AM, so that the west coast has access at the same "time".

Also, preloading is an option of the Developer/Publisher. It's not up to Valve/Steam, they just provide the CDN to the clients. This was Ubi's call as far as a preload goes.

Oh, and it's It's 2PM EST, not 1PM

It's still BS for the launch time for Eastern.... Steam should have time zone-based servers so Eastern Time, Central Time and Pacific time all have the same exact launch times no matter what timezone a gamer is in.

I know preloading is an option given to the developer/publisher, I said that Steam should make preloading a REQUIREMENT to the publisher/developer if the game is over a certain size GB-wise. Why have a feature that would make it easier for gamers who have poor internet connection speeds to download the game and play it at launch as a optional feature???

Actually, a game can release at 9 pm the day before on west coast (Saints Row 3 is for instance) and midnight on east coast.

Well why isn't that for all Steam-released games then???

Because it depends on the publisher. Valve can't just go to the publisher and say 'hey I don't care what you think, this is what we're doing.' They already tried that and EA said 'screw you then.'
It should be availuable sooner than that.
Buying it like this is supposed to be conveinient, console gamers get it before us, some at midnight

Completely agree with this statement. It should be available at Midnight Eastern Time for me.
You all be glad that you're getting this game in just mere hours, I gotta wait until the 29th for Steam to unlock it...

What is up with these different release dates for a highly-anticipated title such as this one??? Has Ubisoft still have not discovered the concept of a simultaneous worldwide release yet???

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. A couple of days wouldn't be much of a problem, but to wait more than a week.. that's a full bucket of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

100% agree with original poster. Bit frustrating. But in the end we have no say. After all... we're only just the people funding all these games to be created, right?

In my opinion, it is VERY frustrating, even angering that we as gamers, help fund the development of these games but we have absolutely no say or very little say in how they are released.
Um...you did not help fund the development of this game. Ubisoft utilized funds from previous games and ventures to create a budget for this title. This title then launches and you pay for a product, which a portion goes to recouping the initial invesment and adding to future capitol. You as a buyer DO have the option of NOT buying the product, however you DO NOT have the right to demand things as if you sit on the board of directors or a majority stockholder, unless you are a majority stock holder, are you?

Beleive it or not you do have a lot of power, however that power only manifests itself if you can convice a majority of your fellow gamers to NOT purchase a specific title and with very specific reasons as to why. Good luck with that.

sick of these euro posts, we are talking about why steam wont allow us to pre-load, nobody cares that you have to wait a week longer. shove off.
