Everyone can play how he/she wants to play.
The style is just a definition. It just describes, well...your style! If you are going to use mainly electro-shock technique and hand-to hand combat to bring down your enemies, you are mainly playing the " Ghost-style " how they call it. If you are using things like tear gas, knife to kill, flashbangs you are what they call " Panther-style " and sure the last, Assault style is nothing more than the most aggressive and " killing-oriented " style. Kind of, running in to a room with an AK and frag grenades and smash down everything. All these three different definitions are just types or " play-styles " you are mainly using in a match. If you look in customize gear menue, you can see that some weapons have a little badge saying " Panther-style ", " Ghost - style " on it, which means when you are using them, you get points in the style they are supposed to support. Sure your mate does not have to play the same style as you!
I personally do not really see the sense of these definition or " case-thinking " in Splinter Cell. Splinter Cell was always about a totally stealth oriented secret agent, who is always trying to be as quiet, stealth and non-killing as possible. Kills = evidence. I don't like then new concept of these definitions, the assault style is only in there to make all the counter strike playing kids happy who get bored too quick, playing a game which is not about running through buildings and randomly shoot everything. To use these new definitions they invented " Splinter Cell was always " Ghost " oriented with a little tiny touch of " Panther " play-style " There was nothing anything like being loud in Splinter Cell.
However, I always play Ghost-style because I think with this style you get the furthest and you also can be the most effective. Sam Fisher is always fighting against a superior force of enemies, so why even bother getting seen and killed ? Way easier but also more challenging to hide, stay in shadow and finish your mission.
hmm..everyone how he/she belong.
At the end of the co-op mission you get points for any style you used and what your co-op partner used.
If you want to play full stealth (no kills, knockouts only, detection) and your co op partner is going around and killing everyone(Combat style), you won't gain any points in stealth at all.
If you're playing one of Grim's missions in co-op you can only play stealth or panther because if either you or your partner gets detected you both instantly fail the mission.
Send me an add if you wanna co-op as ghost/panther. (On perfectionist)
Shouldn't Grim's Coop mission-styles not be called " Cougar-style " :-)))))))))) ?
