HOLY GAWD, Conviction just dropped to the bottom of my list. Thanks for reminding me about that. One of the few games that I don't have a single screenshot from because it would've been in black and white anyway. And not "cool" black and white for nostalgic reasons. Just black and white for stupid reason. I don't mind a game going with a black and white tone for an artistic style. Conviction's reason was just asinine.
Its mostly RNG, unlike Blacklist, you know.. where stealth is also a fact.
What causes you to see black and white and instantly go "I hate it"?
You can't like B&W films then...
So, it's not a question of not liking black and white: it's a problem I have with only getting to play the B&W version because I want to remain in stealth as much as possible. So, if I play it right, I have to endure the less visually appealing version of the game. It's nothing against B&W as a medium, it's just that my Conviction game is bland and visually boring because there's no option to turn off "Visual Stealth Indication".
But I guess it makes about as much sense as the enemies not being able to see bright green glowing goggles in the shadows...
And ever seen Schindler's List? Brilliant, modern movie. Black and white by choice. Doesn't detract from the film at all.
Hehe, yeah, we all have our suspension of disbelief limits I guess. I too find it ridiculous that enemies can't spot brightly glowing lights floating around in the darkness, but I thought Blacklist got that right when the enemies could now spot you in the darkness most of the time now, as opposed to being invisible when stealthed in some of the previous ones, and other games. In Blacklist, if they're close enough, they're most likely going to spot you if they're looking your way. So I don't think they messed that up, honestly. It works for me.
No, but I've heard it's really good. Just haven't had the opportunity. As I said, I've seen lots of great B&W movies and loved them. My wife and I regularly watch TCM and enjoy most of them.
Also in Conviction in complete darkness enemies could spot you if you were right in front of them.
