+1 Blacklist (I'd say +12, easy)
Blacklist! Conviction is perfomance wise one of the worst console ports in history of mankind and the gameplay is compared to Blacklist also garbage.

absolutely Blacklist.

I love conviction and havent played much of blacklist but Conviction is more of a splinter cell game then Blacklist, except for the gadgets. They removed ALOT of stuff in Conviction from previous games which is its downfall, so I have to go with blacklist here. Downside to blacklist is the new voice actor might bother you if you are a fan of Michael Ironside. Downside to conviction is you will end up playing HALF OR MORE of the game in black and white due to its silly "in the shadows" feature. I would get both because you are missing a large chunk of story/backstory to blacklist. Sadly you just missed a sale, I picked up conviction for 4.99 and blacklist for 23.79. Have a good one.

OMG, I was trying to remember which game it was that did that, when I was describing to a friend the worst game design flaw I could remember at the time. I'm not sure what the devs were thinking. "Hey, let's design this game and have the player be 'in the dark' the whole time and make the game go to black/white/gray tones while they're 'stealthed'. Aw man, isn't dat da coolest?" Other dev: "Yeah, man, I see what you're sayin' ... let's make the player aware they're in stealth the whole time by making the game go black and white the whole time. Dat's awesomeness right dere."

HOLY GAWD, Conviction just dropped to the bottom of my list. Thanks for reminding me about that. One of the few games that I don't have a single screenshot from because it would've been in black and white anyway. And not "cool" black and white for nostalgic reasons. Just black and white for stupid reason. I don't mind a game going with a black and white tone for an artistic style. Conviction's reason was just asinine.

just how is conviction more of a splinter cell game?

Its mostly RNG, unlike Blacklist, you know.. where stealth is also a fact.

I have not played much of Blacklist but I will say Blacklist after going side ways with Double agant and Conviction it a nice time to get back to what a Splinter cell game need to be it not as good as the third one but it one of the best if you PC can run it without having the game crash like it did with me.

I am loving it so far. I managed to get it for 15 bucks. I just need people to play coop with, Mics only.

i love both, but if you preffer beating game in non lethal stealth style then blacklist, conviction is awesome too tho, its like some bourne movie, but can beat it in stealth style too tho.

Why do people hate the monochrome stealth from Conviction so much? I didn't mind it at all.
What causes you to see black and white and instantly go "I hate it"?
You can't like B&W films then...

Not true. I sorta touched on it when I said "and not 'cool' B& W for nostalgic reasons". I should have added "for technical limitations of the time" too. I watch a lot of black & white movies. That's not the issue. B&W movies a lot of times didn't have any other choice. It was the only way to make them, or it was less expensive, etc., whatever the reason was. I was talking about spending the time to create a modern day game and having all these color options available...and then having an unrelated mechanic of the game completely wash out all semblance of color and vibrance in a game you made because a player just happens to be in stealth 90% of the game, so that if you're "playing it right" (imho), you get the non-colorized version. I didn't want that.

So, it's not a question of not liking black and white: it's a problem I have with only getting to play the B&W version because I want to remain in stealth as much as possible. So, if I play it right, I have to endure the less visually appealing version of the game. It's nothing against B&W as a medium, it's just that my Conviction game is bland and visually boring because there's no option to turn off "Visual Stealth Indication".

Do you prefer the light detector thing from the other games, where a light glows on your back when you're in darkness? Well now that doesn't make any sense.
But I guess it makes about as much sense as the enemies not being able to see bright green glowing goggles in the shadows...
And ever seen Schindler's List? Brilliant, modern movie. Black and white by choice. Doesn't detract from the film at all.

Yes. It's much less intrusive than the entire game going black/white/gray drab.

Hehe, yeah, we all have our suspension of disbelief limits I guess. I too find it ridiculous that enemies can't spot brightly glowing lights floating around in the darkness, but I thought Blacklist got that right when the enemies could now spot you in the darkness most of the time now, as opposed to being invisible when stealthed in some of the previous ones, and other games. In Blacklist, if they're close enough, they're most likely going to spot you if they're looking your way. So I don't think they messed that up, honestly. It works for me.

No, but I've heard it's really good. Just haven't had the opportunity. As I said, I've seen lots of great B&W movies and loved them. My wife and I regularly watch TCM and enjoy most of them.

I'm fine with suspending my disbelief with regard to the glowing goggles, but I just thought I'd point it out.
Also in Conviction in complete darkness enemies could spot you if you were right in front of them.
