unable to build further

constructing my first base (near the first red shipping container) my base consists of the starter modual one two long tubes (on opposite sides of the main hab), 4 solar panels, 2 batteries, 1 airlock, 2 small bins, power panel, fabricator, battery recharger and thats it. i was wanting to extednd one of the tubes so i removed the airlock and i couldn't get anything to attach anywhere. i can't even re-attach the airlock. i reloaded a save from before i removed the airlock and noticed that i just couldn't attach any more items not even inside ones or decorations. any new item shows blue as if it should attach but all get is a sort of error tone. no indication as to why. i have plenty of power and such so i have no idea what is causing it.

this has happened twice now. i restarted from the beginning and it still happened. (the first attempt at building a base was even smaller when the glitch happened.

does anyone know a fix for this issue or what is causing it?

Have you checked that the battery in your builder gun has charge?

Sounds like a power problem. Make shure you have enough available power to build more.

i did realize that the construction tool used batteries. now i feel stupid. the readout on the tool is so small that i just didn't notice it.
