The biggest inventory stacks for resources I've seen are in No Man's Sky - the 9 thousand stack. No one complains about stack sizes in that game. But you see constant complaints about how managing inventory sucks. At some point convenient large inventory turns into a nightmare to manage. There is also a problem that carrying so many items on you can affect performance of the game when you open up inventory.
And note that I did not say I am against increasing the stack size. I think normal stack size in games are usually 10 items, so that would be fine. I also would like to have an extra row on the wall storage. See, understanding why some balancing decisions were made is different from your opinion about it or what you want.
Did you not read anything past the first sentence or a subtext is lost on you? I will spell it out since it seems to be difficult to read long paragraphs.
- I don't really have an issue with inventory currently in the game
- I would also like to have a larger stack, even if currently I don't have an issue with inventory
- I would also like to have slightly larger wall storage
And following through:
- Any conversation is moot since developers might not implement it in the game, so we should not even bother to talk at all.
i've never had a problem managing my fully maxed inventories in my 17 NMS saves that i regularly play... once i developed a system, it hasn't been hard or confusing at all... but that's the key, too... develop a system and follow it... my Storage Units have specific names on them denoting the materials they contain...
all my Agriculture stuff is stored in one unit with the items made from those materials in the unit beside... same for Stellar Metals, Trade Goods, etc... these Storage Unit names i get from the data you see when you hover over an item in your inventory or in the UI tab that shows your in-game achievements and progress...
i can see Astrometica being a similar sandbox and exploration/survival game like NMS but it depends on how tight to a story driven game they are aiming for... i have completed everything you can currently do in the Astrometica EA release but i still don't know the story and have no way to read the parts i've found in proper order like they would be if written in a book... that's my main complaint about many story-driven games where we find parts of the story/lore and can read it over and over... they're listed in find order instead of chronological order and that's ugh in my book (pun?)...
full disclosure: i have 3000+ hours in-game in No Man's Sky... only 50something in Subnautica... i still have more to do in Subnautica but i've lost the story and direction more than once... keep finding the same places all the time and haven't found anything new... in NMS i'm always finding something new everywhere i go...
