Laser upgrades?
Just started playing this game today, so figuring things out. Just wondering if there's a laser upgrade maybe I missed, does such a thing exist? I already have level 3 upgrades for various other things (battery usage, and I think scanning range?) and level 2 of a few other things, but I've yet to see anything that upgrades the laser. Curious because currently it seems to be my only weapon, and....it sucks. It takes forever to kill any of the things that have attacked me thus far. The red things can barely be killed before exploding in your face, the other bots can be killed if you can manage to agro one at a time but it's still a pain...and I just went into that red cave, and those things that grab onto you also take way too long to kill. I feel like I'm missing something when it comes to combat. Is there another weapon I'm supposed to be using?

No that's it and so far only the battery can be upgraded for the laser. With those red things that explode all you need to do is fly away. After a few seconds they will self detonate. I've never been able to kill one of them without it exploding in my face. The flying robots are easy. All you need to do is fly sideways while firing at them. They will miss you every time even if there are a few.

This won't work in the red cave, but for the drones you see in space, you can destroy those by ramming those with the Summon (vehicle) when you have it unlocked. As for destroyed those squid like creatures in the red cave, you can move backwards as best you can to avoid them grabbing you, sometimes called kiting. This works better if you have the speed upgrade. Have some health kits handy. Try to aggro one at a time. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Ok cool, thanks. I'm trying to limit med kit usage due to fabric being fairly limited. Seems like an oversight that your only healing ability is locked behind random fabric drops, although I have a decent stockpile now.

There are a couple of domes that have leafy plants on the ground called fibre. You convert that fibre to fabric. I have so much fabric as they respawn every time you start the game.
