How do people stack the solar panels in a line? mine dont seem to want to snap on,or is there higher tier ones?

What you're seeing is solar panel extenders. You can get the BP fragment at the dome near the warp gate where you get the large habitat module BP. Scan both the habitat and the solar panel.
