How long is the game in its current form?
I'd just like to know about how many hours of playtime I can expect from the game. I don't have a lot of money and would prefer to spend it on something with a decent amount of content.

Maybe 40-ish hours if you don't spend too too much time decorating and base building. You could add another 10 if you want to setup a few bases. The content is pretty light though, I'd maybe let it bake a bit longer if trying to allocate limited funds.

wtf are you saying.... the game is currently at around 10-ish hours... You can make yourself busy for 40 hours, sure, but that would just base building and flying aimlessly around. To go through the whole game content you can finish it in 10-13 hours if you don't rush....

First play thru ended at about 17hrs. The save game crashed, so started over. Was guessing a bit, I built 4 or 5 bases. So depends how you play I s'pose. I got bored with it at about 40hrs.

I also played it for about 40 hours, but the content finished way before that. OP didn't ask for how long you played, he asked how much content is in the game :D You can keep building bases forever, so if you go with that, the game has infinite content as you don't have to ever finish.

Then your playtime was about the same as mine. I read the OP's post exactly as he/she wrote it, how much "playtime"? I got bored after about 40hrs of playtime; sounds like you did too. ...semantics I s'pose.

The only thing left at this point would be to expand bases, and maybe gather some resources in anticipation of the next update. To me, 40hrs (and the related content) is pretty light, so I cautioned against a purchase at this point if budget is an issue. Conversely, I have about 300hrs in Starfield and have a very hard time recommending that game. ...but I did play for 300hrs, so shame on me.

My first playthru probably 30-40 hrs because I was testing boundaries of the play area. Searching for stuff that did not exist. Sure, on a second, or third playthru I could probably do it in about 15-20. Seems pretty normal.

There plenty of people who finished everything in 8 hours and on average it seems people are playing it for about 10-15. You will do everything there is to do in the game in about 10-ish hours, given of course your save file won't get corrupted in some way. After that it's up to you. There is no extra content.

Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like I should hold off on this one for a bit.

It's a very fun game and there will be more updates coming. Currently there is not that much content, but the game is just fun regardless. If you do want to have the biggest bang for you buck in terms of how long you are going to play something, then you should probably buy something on sale.

also dont do the idea of just constantly gathering resources ready for the next update as that will mean when it drops you will complete the new content much quicker then complain about how short the new content was
