I have never tried the Editor, can you open it in game or is just for messing about like in something like Cossacks in a seperate editor menu

The Editor is a separate application. Id recommend downloading the 2.0.1.1 patch as it makes it easier.

You will need to navigate to the directory Original War is installed to and find ow_editor.exe and run it. Next you need to setup a mod, with 2.0.1.1 its easy as you can just tick the boxes for extracting the maps/etc from the game (Otherwise you have to manually extract them).

Since its a mod, you would have to copy your saves over if you wanted to load them in the editor (Otherwise you can just load the first mission up). Saves are located in UserProfiles\normal\ and your mod would be UserProfiles\<YOURMOD>.

To begin just load any mission up and hit CTRL+E (Which switches between the game and editor). You can then goto the in-game menu and load a save. To cheat just press CTRL+E (Or select Back to Editor from the in-game main menu) and then make changes to the world.

Note that SHIFT+Left Click places things like units/buildings/etc.

There is a little setup time, but with the Editor you have full control over everything, you can spawn vehicles, people, etc. You can give yourself crates. You can change your character's skills. and so on.

I intend to manually extract the missions, what folder do I find them in?

So from what I can tell, this useful feature from 2.0.1.1 was removed in 2.0.3.5? Sounds to me like the game patchers ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up there.

What feature is supposidly removed? You can still extract missions either manually with PakView or automatically when creating a mod with the editor.

Just noticed the boxes, didn't notice them before because they're rather small. Thanks for replying, wouldn't have double checked without it.

I can cheat on the first two missions. After that, McMillan and the survivors refuse to appear.

Are you just loading a mission directly or going through them? If the former then it may not work since you won't have any save data (You can however load a save game while "in-game" in the editor).

You should be able to go through the missions from the start in the editor, save the game (In the game bit) and then when you want to continue, load the first mission in the editor and then while in the game bit load the previous save.

I'm having trouble with the subtitles in the modded missions. The subtitles don't match the spoken dialogue.

I found an old forum post about the subject from 2014 with a solution to the problem:
"You will need to delete some files in the maps folder (texts.txt). I forgot that the editor will use these over the real ones. I'm guessing its so people can test stuff in maps rather than modifying the actual dialogue files."

I tried deleting all files named texts in my mod folder, but the problem persists. Any advice?
