Nesnášíte hmyz? Otravují vás mravenci v cukru? V lese máte hrůzu z klíšťat? Děsíte se pavouků? A při blízkém přeletu vosy utíkáte do bezpečí? Tak tato hra splní noční můry všech co tyto potvory nesnáší.

Je to tak, Země je opět v ohrožení a tenkrát jsou vetřelci obří hmyzáci. Mravenci vetší než auto, klíšťata velikosti člověka, vosy velikosti vrtulníku, obří pavouci co skáčou po desítkách metrů a další výběr ze života hmyzu. Co by statečný voják EDF který musí nakopat vetřelcům zadek! Na výběr jsou čtyři typy povolání, voják, technik, heavy a létající scout. Tyto povolání mají každé trochu jiné bonusové vlastnosti ale jinak se hra hraje vždy stejně.

Úkol je vždy jasný, zničit enormní množství nepřátel. A opravdu je to občas šílená scéna, kdy se snažíte zlikvidovat desítky nepřátel kteří se na vás valí, pavouci skáčou, přes budovy lezou mravenci, a v rojích se blíží klíšťata připravená skočit na záda a odsávat zdraví. Pak se k tomu mohou přidat ještě letecké jednotky, které chrlí nové nepřátele a ještě vás odstřelují. Do toho jsou občas na mapě hnízda, ze kterých se chrlí nová várka nepřátel.

K ruce jsou dva parťáci, kteří občas pronesou otřepanou hlášku a snaží se přiložit zbraň k dílu. Nejdůležitější je ale jejich role když vás nepřítel sejme, aby přiběhli a oživili hráče. Ano jsou tady lékárny, ale honit se za nimi po mapě nemá moc význam. Na nějakou munici rovnou zapomeňte, na to autoři rovnou rezignovali, takže jediná věc je přebíjení zbraně, jinak byste ani nepoznali že máte nekonečno munice.

Nějaké to zpestření jinak stereotypní akce jsou souboje s velkými bossy. Ty jsou občas velcí jak mrakodrap a připomínají hráči jak je vlastně proti nim titěrný. V pár misích dojde i na tank a mecha, ale co si budeme povídat je to vlastně to stejné kosení nepřátel jak předtím. Hra se nebere vážně, vtipkují zde protagonisté a dělají z toho odlehčenější záležitost, což je sice fajn, ale řeknou tu jen pár štěků.

Grafická stránka hry je budget jak vyšitý, hudbu zde občas zaslechnete, a zvuky jsou občas otravné díky pazvukům nepřátel. Problém této hry je, že je to furt to samé od první chvíle. Ničíte hmyz, ničíte nově se objevující hmyz a ničíte obrovský hmyz v podobě bossů. A to je vlastně celé. Hra je to zkrátka průměrná, na občasné vyblbnutí a výplach mozků se dá použít, ale nedej bože aby jste hráli více misí za sebou jak já. To už potom ty obří mravenci nechcete ani vidět!

I watched my wife play it and shook my head, wondering, "How can she stand this? I'm tolerant of poor graphics and plain gameplay, but this is straight-up dumb." With great reluctance, I bought it on a sale and gave it a go.

...I don't know. I literally do not know. But it works.

You have to turn your brain off, but that's what this game is for. You just run around blowing bugs and mechs up. Sometimes you hop in minigun turrets or anti-air defenses and pummel the enemy. Your guns are little different from other games'. Your story doesn't have more depth than young adult ficion. Your movement doesn't feel all that special. That's it. But by goodness, it works.

No, the trailer ain't pretty. It takes two minutes at the controls to tell whether this game will satisfy your itch. Just... give it a shot. Refund if you don't like it. "Mindless third-person bug shooter," yeah no kidding, lol.

If this game is considered one of the weaker Earth Defense Force games, I can't wait to play the other ones because I absolutely love this game.

It feels kindof like Starship Troopers. The missions are quite long and feel like mini-movies. Kill the space ants!

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is a 3rd person shooter with optional coop play. Set in a disaster movie-esque setting the ambience is reminscient of Starship Troopers and Japanese disaster movies. Up to three players choose a soldier class traverse large city maps and undertake one of fifteen missions consisting of a number of sequential objectives. Arrayed against them are hordes of enemies resembling the arachnic foes of Starship Troopers and numerous large alien boss types with a range of technologically advanced weapons.

Mission objectives consist of shooting hordes and bosses, destroying spawn points, sabotaging downed aircraft and reaching an objective point. Instructions are relayed by voiceactors which do a basic job of revealing what little backstory there is to be found.

The core component of this game is gun and run combat with healthpacks dropped with the death of certain aliens. Other player or AI allies can revive downed allies. Killing bosses sometimes drop weapon schematics that unlock new weapons. Otherwise players levelup with the XP they receive from completing missions. Levelling unlocks weapons, while credits earned allow new weapons to be purchased without schematics. During some sequences players get to shoot aliens using weapons from gunships or climb into tanks, mechs or weapon emplacements to kill more aliens.

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is a fairly average third-person horde shooter. It reminds me of marmite, you will either like it or not. Gameplay switches between feeling fun or a braindead button-bashing experience. The best features are the apocalyptic ambience and destructable environment. These feel like you're in a Japanese style disaster movie. The epic battles with gigantic bosses and alien hordes make you feel like you are taking part in one. The soundtrack adds to the titanic struggle feeling to overcome the enemy horde.

Playing solo is okay but coop is better. Despite the short campaign length, the lack of objective variations in missions results in gameplay that can be described as at best repetitive and at worst shallow. The dated graphics are actually quite passable even if the experience descends to one of constant button-bashing. It can be fun at times but I found it to get old fast. Button bashing for short bursts is okay but doing it for the entire mission just feels very repetitive. Add to this the design of all gamemodes it adds up to a very, very grindy experience. Something that is amplified by the nature of the achievements.

The game could definitely do with more class types. There are alot of weapons but most of them feel underwhelming and once you find the perfect ones for your style of play you rarely change them except when you level-up. At least then the AI is competent for both the enemy and friendly AI. Allies come to revive you. They jump into vehicles and weapon emplacements when available. They also help take down the large bosses while keeping enemy hordes at bay. The enemy AI works a treat focusing on killing players and their AI comrades. They keep moving to avoid being sitting ducks. They also jump onto players to trap them and damage them with bites. Impressively they also throw vehicles at players in order to crush them prone. While I experienced no crashes, there were a few missions where bugs would spawn out-of-bounds and could not be killed and the mission had to be restarted but, only a few.

There have been times I have enjoyed playing Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon and others when Ive hated the monotony of it. Fans of Starship Troopers and Japanese style disaster movies may find it appealing. As anyone who likes simple, repetitive gameplay. Enjoys button-bashing combat. Gains satisfaction from tearing down city landscapes or enjoys constant mindless destruction. Especially if they dont mind dated graphics from what is an old console port. If thats you then this could be a cheap introduction into this franchise when on sale. What could have been a solid recommendation turns into a MAYBE. Maybe if this is played occasionally rather than in long stretches anyone interested in playing this game may get the best out of it.

When Ameican Studios Touch Japanese games, They tend to make it WORSE (Take example of Ace combat Assault horizon, it makes the Ace combat look like "Call of duty in skies" They messed up too much, and especially Too many DLCs) But this one, Not many has changed....I'm impressed.
The Campaign is fun, but it's more fun if you're with your friend! And no tutorial needed, You proably know how an FPS Work, So yeah, BLAST THEM TO PIECES!
Although The gun sounds are quite decent, graphics are decent, almost everything is decent, But they're similliar to Sandlot's (The makers of the Japanese EDF games) EDF Games.

Spiders and ticks and ants, OH MY! Where do I start? Bugs, guns, some kind of invisible wall? Seriously fun game that doesn't take itself too serious. This game is well worth the full price.

A third person shooter that's easy to pick up and as fun to play solo as it is with friends. Select one of four unique armors, choose from over 200 weapons, and get ready to kick some major bug butt.

Once on the field, the commentary between allies and the tips provided by the higher ups will have you laughing everytime.

As for those that typically avoid ports for their many faults and issues, you'll find none of that here. Outside of one spelling error this game is near flawless. Complete key binding, full controller support, and satasfactory graphics settings.

It might not share the same sense of scale with 2017 and 2025 - where everything is gigantic and comes in stupid numbers - but its still a fun game. Also it isn't as cheesy and funny

I like the different classes, although they play differently they're fun and fairly easy to get around with, unlike 2025 where you get your @ss kicked if you play with anything other than the base class (at least at first). There's plenty of different weapons, each one with advantages and disadvantages that will keep you hooked, looking for the best combo.
I dont like that it takes so long to level up a class to the max, and the campaign could be longer.

Overall is a fun game, and if you like 3rd person shooters you might like it
