MALE CHARACTERS PLEASE?
God, can I just not be forced to play a female character as the role I pick? As a male i feel extremely neglected because I actually want to play a hero character I can identify with.
In WoW I have no issues to play a female character because I can kinda come up with a lore about the character myself. But here I feel extremely forced and as it looks right now I am simply not going to tank because I don't want to play an unrealistically androgynized female tank.

Just because a lady knows how to fight, does not make them "unrealistically androgynized". In fact, as a martial art teacher with female colleagues, you would be surprised how "feminine" most of the female teachers that I work with or had classes from are. They will just punch a hole in your chest when you deserve it.

Did you ever play Portal, Tomb Raider, Horizon, Bayonetta, Metroid Prime? You are forced to play a woman there too, and those are amazing games. Because the pixels you play do not really have a gender.

Its a pre-alpha playtest thingy, only 6 characters have been opened for play ATM, there will most likely be more.

How do you think women feel when they have to play guys all the time?

There are a couple ways to mitigate this.
#1, play the dwarf.
#2, play the guy with the big hammer.
#3, wait for not the beta that was guaranteed to have a limited hero pool

Engagement bait is cool though. While you come off as a snowflake for posting this, it WILL push the game. So thanks for your knee-jerk reaction to a build of the game that's 10% of the full game, I guess?

Gotta love those clowns who will clamor for diversity, but will hate on you for wanting a male chatacter tank.

Same people will call you racist when the game will fail.

Gotta love these clowns that clamor against diversity but cry when the game isn't diverse enough for them. Cuts both ways chump.

Bro, you failed the toughness check anyway. No need to have such a fragile tank.

Can't believe all the bigots that are defending the lack of diversity in this game. :steamfacepalm:

Actually I wasn't clamoring for or against either. I think it's stupid to care about the race or gender at all.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to identify a little with the character you’re playing in a fantasy rpg. Especially if you’re going to playing it for long period of time. So people have a right to want someone that looks like them and fits their identity some. Just like if all the characters were white males you’d be hearing the exact thing from the other side.

These types of games have a hard time keeping a steady playerbase so alienating possible thousands and thousands of players isn’t something all these goofballs spurging out over people upset should be celebrating.

We’ll see though as this is only a handful of their designed characters. But people won’t be so loud and obnoxious when after a year and a half this game only has 1,500 players and has to shut down like the many online indie loot farming based rpg’s before it.
You're right. For me it doesn't matter. I've played as gnomes, orcs, dwarves, and just about everything else both male and female. I don't need representation for my IRL race/gender in game but it is clearly important to others and I don't mean to belittle that. In fact you can see me elsewhere in the forums being sympathetic to people who want a character creator even though I don't need one myself.

My comment however was not directed at the OP but at the guy that called people who want diversity clowns but then wants diversity when it favours his race/gender. It's a stupid take.

The fact is this game has pre-made characters. That was probably done for financial reasons. Because of the limited amount of heroes currently available not all gender/race/role combos can be filled. Let's say hypothetically "the other side" would have raged just the same if the game had 2 male tanks and left out a black woman instead of a white man. That means the devs lose either way. They are either called woke/DEI or racist/sexist. If that's the case then why on earth would anyone assume they are pushing an agenda without further evidence just because they went to one side instead of the other?

Are we really at a point where the only solution for people to not tear into them was to make exactly one male and one female for each role? What about race? Do you make the male white and the female black? What about the people who want to play a black male tank? What about other races? Hell even if you did it this way people would still accuse them of being woke for even having the options.

How about instead we all just chill and give people the benefit of the doubt and see what they come up with..
In spanish we say "a llorar a la lloreria" (go and cry in the crying place)

Go back to WOW where you belong then and stop crying cause you wanna be sexist in a game xD
