This is what was missing. I wondered why it was taking me so long to realize I had switched targets, that small ping that plays when you tab target in WoW and FFXIV is missing.
I'm sure it's on the docket for changes, but it's good to highlight nonetheless.
I've seen this massive right-wing gamer trend where every game is just a thousand posts about boobs, 'cute' or 'attractive' girls, big beefy guys, and i'm just like...when did it start mattering so much? x,x
I like Sylvie how she looks, it's fun and interesting, natury style look and all that. It'd feel eye-rolly to me if they went out to like super sexualize her anymore than she already is with the armor design.
I don't get it either. For some reason some gamers seem to feel attacked if the characters are anything but a thirst trap or a meathead. I feel like 10 years ago when we had games like Overwatch coming out everyone loved the variety of characters it offered. Now it seems like people just want to find something to hate because that's how the culture has shifted.
and if you didnt have to make a open world or quest where did they spend time? lol also its bad graffixs . i see alot of people attacking people about wanting choices on looks.
well a huge % of people play mmos yes its a mmo to play dress up they want to design there toon and they want the gear to change the way you look. you didnt spend time making a world or quest why cant u let them play dress up? this game is gonna flop so hard it will most likly end up free to play with a store like lotro .
best way to save this game would be to add controller like ff14 .
or just give up and port it to android because thats where this belongs.
p.s i love the idea of of getting new gear instead of leveling up. but its a failure as is.
the hard push back against these sort of.. movements? is due to the heavy handed nature that its taken on. People see a female lead or a majority female cast of characters, a majority of minority characters, it gets peoples heckles up right away.
very few games can get away with it, because your modern audience target, just inst abundant enough if that's your core focus to hook players. however, its clear some games can succeed even with it in their game, look at BG3 one of my fav games of all time I was willing to put up with horrible characters like Dame Aylin.
I'm a female, i want to play female characters and honestly i love character customisation, I enjoy playing healers, so im in luck with this i also really enjoy the butterfly character her play style is a lot of fun. However my friends that are mostly male, don't want to play this game right now because of what people are talking about, the tanks are both female, they dont look like what they want, the melee dps character is a minority and plays oddly.
character customisation would go a long way, and yes this game is a demo, im sure with more heroes to pick from this may solve its self if they make heroes people want, but you would surely allow people to have a hero they enjoy the looks of or want to play as, if you could just tweak the current pool of heroes, at minimum a choice to switch genders on the characters.
Devs are obviously aware that people like to have representation in games, it should also be clear and true that people like to play characters they can associate with, i get that many male players enjoy playing female characters, but its also true that many males and females enjoy playing their own gender.
The game is a lot of fun, the only draw back is the lack of character customisation or, if that really cannot be an option, the lack of a much greater pool of heroes to pick from, heroes that your player base would enjoy, don't aim for the modern audience, its to small to float a studio. Skins and a gender choice would be a middle ground that most would accept.
I know this is a demo, and its great so far, i really hope to see this go further and im excited to see the future of this game.
I'd be willing to put money on it that they are locked in to set characters. The cost to add a detailed character creator and have every armour piece from every class work on every body type would take substantial resources.
I can easily see them expanding on the characters or adding skins like you said, especially if they can monetize them. At the end of the day this is a game for a niche audience so it's not going to have a massive budget to give people all the options they want though.
I don't even want a character creator. I just want the ugly characters replaced with some conventionally attractive ones so the target audience doesn't dismiss the game on first impression. Helena especially is a huge red flag. That is a MAN, but they call it a woman.
