I strongly suggest making the game Character Creation
Instead of being character-based make it character creation. Many YouTubers and players have described this game as "not a character creation game," often with a sense of disappointment or as a warning.

I suggest delaying the release, repurpose the existing characters as different races, introduce a proper character creation system, and develop weapons and armor sets to enhance the sense of progression. There's something incredibly satisfying about watching your character grow by earning new armor, or seeing other players with impressive gear and striving to reach that goal.

This game has a lot of potential, but much like Wayfinders and other character-based games, I’m not sure it has a bright future unless some key improvements are made.

For those people to create their character, play for 2 hours, find the game not up to their taste and refund it? LoL.

I believe there are more character-based games than character creation games. Games like Wayfinders, Legacy: S&S, and Vaultbreakers follow a similar structure—explore dungeons or maps, return to a lobby to equip new items, and repeat. While the concepts may not be identical, they all focus on specific characters. I'm not including well-known character-based games like Overwatch or Marvel Rivals, since they belong to a different genre, but they do contribute to the trend of character-locked games. I think that today, having customization and visible armor progression is more appealing than games that lock players into specific characters.

Additionally, just because you want the game ASAP doesn't mean it they should release a "dead on arrival" game. If the developers listen to feedback, pay attention to what YouTubers and players are saying, and focus on what the community wants, they’ll have a much better chance at success. A quick look at the Steam page shows that many people are asking for customization over locked characters, and that's perfectly reasonable. The game has a great art style, and some characters could be added as races and with a few tweaks here and there, they could release a very successful game, but sometimes, to succeed, you need to cater to the broader player base.

That's just my opinion :)
all those games are not the samer as this game......
they are trying to go after the m+ community from wow

I want a game where I make a character and run dungeons. I want to make *my* character., Not play as some set character I didnt make.

If your game has little to no story or quests, then the character doesnt need to be someone with established lore. This whole game lends itself to me making my OWN character so I can make my OWN adventure.

Not play as generic bald man with hammer #395423.
+1 chatacter creation

If the devs want to make a game that doesnt flop, they have to fall in line with the industry like it or not.
The industry doesn't push either way though, what on earth do you mean 'fall in line'. You've never heard of Vermintide? Path of Exile? Risk of Rain? Diablo? Overwatch? Valorant? LoL? Dota?
This is such a non issue.

Then if creating a character is a deal breaker for you, then you have WoW to fall back on.

This game is in direct competition with WoW. To tell players to go play WoW instead of this game because of a feature they want its incredibly silly. It's like yall want this game to fail. lol

It is certainly a nice to have. But think of the work to add what would probably be a bunch of races, and then at least 2 body types for each and then doing all the animations for each class for each race.

So at the very least you'd have.. dwarf, human, fox thing. So that's 3..
x2 for body type. 6.
x 6 for each current class. 36 characters and animations.

I guess you could severely limit what class each race can be, but then people would still complain.

"They have to fall in line with the industry like it or not"

This mentality is why we get so many boring games from AAA developers, Your logic is that a game has no right to exist unless it matches some checklist of "Things that make game sell" and that every game should be the same.

While this is true, anything would be better than what we currently have.
Just add the same customization as WoW.
10 haircuts, 10 faces, 10 hair colors, 10 skin colors. You're done.
Even if the classes stay race/sex restricted, this is still much, much better than looking EXACTLY the same as everyone else.
Opening character panel should say JOHN, Warrior.
Not TARIQ (john).
scream1x Feb 28 @ 4:17pm
Agree. No need to harsh.A character creation system is needed.
Dont want to play as Vasia or Jackson or Tariq.
Would be much better just to choose specs, skills, classes and see how your character progress through the game. This one got a lot WoW vibes already and a custom character system will just make it a lot better then it is right now

The genre is very specific and there arent a lot of games like it.So character/gender lock in such a game is just a waste. No need for an another Wayfinder plop garbage

no character creation is fine as long as these characters get voice lines and ♥♥♥♥

Serious question, would you rather them backtrack and spend time reworking it into a character creation format or spend that time adding more dungeons? You know, the real reason we all want to play a game like this.

I don't think there's a need for full on character customization. It's not an MMORPG, it's a multiplayer dungeon crawler. Just give a lot of armor appearance options, and maybe swappable heads like Borderlands
Can only speak for a very small sample size, but..

Myself and a few friends were interested in this until we saw there is no character creation.

None of us want premade characters that are gender/race/class locked.

So none of us are interested in it now.
