Please. I don't want to see people and know their money bought their outfit. That's just gross. What I can stomach is seeing someone who bought an expansion, completed some difficult content, and was rewarded with an outfit. I respect that person. I respect the studio. This whole era of pumping out $20 skin after $20 skin is just quite literally sucking potential out of the game. It isn't friendly.
"Well how is a live service game supposed to sustain itself in 2025 without a cash shop?"
Like I said above. Base price for the game. DLC. For gods sake, supporter bundles are more respectable. If there is THAT much overhead that it isn't sustainable with those, then something is wrong. Either it's too ambitious, not efficient enough in that new content releases too slowly, or not efficient enough in that too many resources are needed to get new content out for what it's worth.
I do not mind cosmetics and etc... I might even support them if the game is good. However this forced character selection will be a no go for me.
The game will die if they stick to that. This will simply not work. I for one wont play a character which is not to my liking. Now imagine that people in general do not want to play tanks and if those tanks are not sympathic enough...well... do the math.
This game has 6 weak characters that dont look good or unique at all.
Yes, but as a stand-in for WoW, I would expect a character creator. In fact, I don't see myself playing this long-term without it.
Marvel, overwatch, I will give you.
I ultimately think the best bet is to just have a few races and allow people to change small parts of them, maybe the hair, skin color, a few face presets, whatever. And then they just choose the preset classes for that character. I think that would just go better because if you are gonna "force" people to play a certain race or character and they dont like looking at them, they wont play. And no matter how much it might upset people you WANT people playing, this game isnt as solo game it literally needs people playing to survive. So anything this easy to change shouldnt be a negative, its an easy win for them to just change this.
This is basicly M+ from WoW. Unless they will release a massive amount of characters for each role, there is no way that there will be enough tank and healer. Not just you have to find a character which attracts you, but he/she will need a skill kit which matches your preference.
This wont happen easily.
