you're not the first to request this - i have gotten more than a few similar requests. it's something that i plan on doing, however i can't promise that it'll be available on release. it really depends on how things fare during the year and how quickly and painlessly i can develop the rest of the content. i probably should buy a controller first, though...
the current plan will be to release it this year with KB+M support only. i bought one of those steam decks so i'll try and get the working with that once it's released, and if everything works out i'll move on to controller support. ideally, depending on the sales of the game, i'd like to hire a second programmer to help me with that so that i could still focus on adding content. i am sorry if this isn't the news you were wishing for, but i still hope the game will be of interest for you even without controller support.

I doubt most play the switch handheld to that extent, but being from the hand held era I will say its an untouched market waiting to be capitalized on.
