What the heck is the purple shield I see around some enemies??

Hi, I've been playing this for a few days and I keep seeing a purple orb shield around some enemies that makes them invincible and I have NO idea how I can get rid of it / break it.
*I thought maybe I had to be inside of it and hit them, but that wasnt it.
*I thought maybe I had to deal a certain amount of damage to it to break it, but that wasnt it.
*I thought maybe I had to hit them with a melee attack to break it, but again that wasnt it.
*I thought *maybe* one of my summons had to be the one to break it? maybe? But that doesnt seem to have worked either...
I'm running out of ideas here lol. How the hell can I break the purple orb shields?

Should be a purple tether to one or more enemies, kill that one/them (if thats the bubble you are talking about)
