6127 kills and still no excalibur

Picked Forger, rushed to grab the rock-sword early, levelled to 25, kept fighting mobs instead of doing last altar to get the sword achievement and eventually died at 6127 kills. The rock was still on the blade.

I know people have said it can take a while to break - this failed run was 68 minutes & not fun at all because it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapon.

excalibur seems to only break if you the strong attack (holding mouse button). Im not sure about it, but for 2 times i killed more than 3000 using the weak attack and it doesnt broke.

have to use strong attack kill to 750,you can try use auto attack,it is always strong attack.

Thanks for the replies, so your telling me there's an attack that's even slower than the regular swing? At least it's only 750 kills, I'll give it another crack.

I've unlocked it with two characters - note that you have to unlock it for EACH character - one time too me basically the whole round, and another look me only about 5 minutes so it seems it's a random amount each time.

EDIT: just unlocked excalibur with the gladiator, picked it about a minute into the run and it unlocked in one of the final hits on the mini-boss before satan, around minute 28.

It may be related to doing power attacks as mentioned already over basic ones. That in itself isnt bad..just get Attack speed ( ideally from the curse talent to get i think its 60%? ) and turn on auto attack until it eventually unlocks.
If you can, try finding the decapitation talent as well to incease aoe size greatly and you should be able to breeze through it well before your max level.

I have just done a test. I picked up the Excalibur at level 1 and used only fully charged attacks. The stone broke at around 600 kills.

I unlocked excalibur on valk, then went in with valk again in a new game... it was green sword in the stone again. Is that correct?

Yes, the unlock is per character. Pretty annoying.

Oh right sorry, I misread. Maybe it only unlocks on the specific stage?

What do you mean per character? if you break the stone part, it will always be broken for that character?

I normally grab Excalibur early if I want to use it, use auto attack for the heavy attacks and I normally free the blade around the 12 minute mark; I do go into larger groups right before the attack strikes.
