So? it doesn't mean the Dev needs to overcharge for it. There are a lot of cheaper licensed things on Steam.
It is. These Devs/Companies think they can overcharge something just because of a license/name brand etc
Look here. Cheap Popular Anime VNs
https://store.steampowered.com/app/412830/STEINSGATE/
and the other Stein games are cheap as well (all under $50 (+tax))
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1961950/CHAOSHEAD_NOAH/
another one.
So, yeah. Much better/cheaper options out there. Also, wait for sales (better sales than just 10% off)
However, if we compare to a newer Mages. game like this:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2291020/ANONYMOUSCODE/
You'll see similar higher pricing.
It's all about higher ups disconection from reality. No wonder if game will be pirated (if it's even worth your time)
Uh, no, very valid argument. When Steins Gate, etc., first released near 15/16 years ago they had equivalently high RRPs.
Steins Gate's RRP at it's original Xbox 360 release was 7140 JPY. Both this and ANONYMOUS;CODE are priced today at 7000 JPY. So as you can see, pricing is in fact on par for Japanese VNs.

Well the way pricing works nowadays with games, they sell the 100 copies for 50 to the 50 people that will buy it for 100...then they lower the price to 20 and sell it to the remaining 950 people.
