After seeing the level complete screen it shows I didn't kill a single one, so unless they are meant to be unkillable and just a mechanic for the boss, they either have way too much health, or are bugged.
https://monosnap.com/direct/UwQ7ibQ1yqJfrlaBQKStUICvN9ohU5 not sure how I didn't kill even one.
After that I rush B tier and get the Supreme gun and the horde. It just melts them.
This is kinda what I assumed, that they're a weird gimmick for the boss and designed to be extremely high hp, later on big sword guys don't seem as bad but that might just because I had better upgrades at that point.
Came here to mention that they are either bugged or there's some secret mechanic to kill them. They have like 700 ♥♥♥♥♥♥ HP. Even a completely maxed build leaves me with like 100 of them and the boss.
And let's not even get started on how the bosses and enemies can start an attack that takes 2 seconds and it still hits you no matter if you zoom across the entire screen in that time
In my experience, pierce doesn't affect the blaster that has "targets one enemy" in the description
This is my biggest gripe about the game too. Makes no sense.
