I would highly recommend reading phantom trigger beforehand. I am about 5 hours in and it definitely has a strong focus the phantom trigger series. Think of it less as a game with all of the grisaia characters and more like bringing the original series characters into the phantom trigger series setting.

From the looks of it you only have to read up to Vol 6. unless I missed something the ending of Phantom Trigger changes some things that don't appear in Chronos. and at least for me. nothing really mattered that I learned or now know from Vol 7 or 8 that affected my reading of Chronos in any way. So if you don't like Phantom Trigger or just want to get to the sweet sweet Class S girls ASAP then you should be able to skip 7 and 8 (also in my opinion 7 and 8 are kinda meh and the ending was just whatever for me so I wouldn't be to worried about it unless they make another novel that would require information from 7 and 8. which I doubt)

Thanks for the answer
It just happened that I didn't touch Phantom Trigger, maybe because there are more games to play than you have time to...

Most definitely. That's what I'm currently doing before I get this, lol
Although I have only played it on my phone, "Gray Fruit": The story takes place in a coastal town called Mishimasaki. In May 2011, there was a boarding school called "Private Mihama Academy" in Mishimasaki that was established a year ago. On the 24th of the same month, a young boy named Yuji Kazami transferred to this school, which marked the beginning of the story. Mihama Academy, which is little known to the outside world and is isolated from the outside world by high walls, was originally a new school with only five students, all of whom were female. After Yuji, the only male transfer student, transferred in, he lived a peaceful and happy life surrounded by these female students with rich personalities. However, behind these ordinary days, the five female students of Mihama Academy actually have a dark past that they cannot tell others. During Yuji's days at school, he gradually approached the secrets held by these girls.
