But really, you don't even really need ESP if your decking level is high enough. In fact, waiting for them can slow you down due to the AP difference between the player and the ESLs.
As for deck programs themselves, the single target nuke, the AoE, the accuracy buff (especially for ESP's), and the heal programs were consistently awesome. The one that reduced alert is theortetically nice as well, but even on Very Hard I never really had to use it.
Even then I'd say the basic attack one - brute force wins over sophistication in this game.
Program-wise - an AOE nuke, Suppression and that's about all you need.
As for programs, I took the 3 damage ones (direct, direct-plus-damage-over-time, AoE) and the heal (which I didn't have to use much, but it gave me some breathing room). Accuracy booster and enemy AP reduction can be useful too. Everything else is pretty superfluous I think (most notably the alarm level reducer, which has too long a cooldown to be worth the trouble).
Sorry for not having the names memorized. I've played too many games, and the "program" functions pretty much all fit standard RPG damage/buff/debuff concepts.
Anyway, wiht my Decker i use Attacker program. It saves me from claustrophobia in the Matrix. Plus, it may save some precious time as ESP are able to trigger the missions goal (ie activate the lift, collect data..). Last, he is not bad versus small ennemies;
There really should have been a TRUE danger of getting overwhelmed. This; along with integrating Decking more into the core gameplay, would have gone a long way.
Yep, my Samurai, Coyote and a Shaman held them off easy using the shaman summons available and overwatch.
