Shadowrun Returns

So why did Harlequin get stats?
Isn't this the first time anyone bothered to give the last knight of the Crystal Spire any stats? :D

The old axiom stands: If it has stats, it can be killed.

I'm curious now as to who let Harlequin die.

In harder difficulties he's not very good. He's basically an AIM / Heal bot that can help finish off bugs.

I brought him and 3 people with ARs to just burn Jessica down. I couldn't bring myself to kill him off because of silly lore attachments.

Harlequin is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful for a several thousand year old initiated mage :P

"The player characters should walk away from Harlequin feeling that they have been involved in the affairs of two people whose personal power far outclasses their own. It is for this very reason that neither Ehran nor Harlequin are given game statistics in the adventure. They don't need them. [...] Unlike Ehran, however, Harlequin will display that power openly, even to the point of blatantly displaying that he is capable of a level of magic the runners are not."

That was written in 1990 and set in 2050. Shadowrun Returns is set in 2054, so I'm waiting for the prequel about how Harlequin got so old and feeble over the course of 4 years.

I'd expect something more along the lines of 'he was holding back as the danger to him was relatively minimal...'

Ok, this made me chuckle.

I am still wondering how effectively he plays dead.

He was depressed that Frosty didn't make it into the game.

The very last enemy killed him for me Right after, he shows back up outside the building for the closure of the run. When asked how he was here and not dead, he gives a vague answer and then tells you to drop it.

That's remarkably subdued way to fake death for someone that is such a drama king.

Did Harlequin's design remind anyone else of Kefka (Final Fantasy 6) btw?

Faking his death at all is wildly out of character for the last surviving defender of a forgotten kingdom. Needed to throw up his crystal fullplate and whoop some ass.
He should have sent Frosty with you, so it wouldnt be the embarassment it is in game.
BisectedBrioche Jul 30, 2013 @ 11:27am
Hold on, I've got it; he did send Frosty. Just disguised as him!
