Fixer Contacts vs Nephilim Network
Did I miss some text? What is the difference between these two groups?

Talk to Jon, the guy by the bar. The Network's guys are supposed to be better.

I had kind of noticed that by examining it... but that seems an odd reason to create two tabs in game. As long as there's no game impact....whatever.

Thanks.

Fixer contacts are purests. Nephilim Network contacts are always hybrids (sometime more then one) of somekind. They also tend to have the gear or cyberware advantage.

I think some of the Nephilim runner's fees are bugged late-game.

Many of their costs are set to 1000 at end-game, which is actually lower than what their value is when starting out.

I completly missed I could 'really' hire them, yeah i listened when the guy told me they're absolut badass. But i never saw anything like "now you can hire them". Always just "hire us we do ♥♥♥♥".
Any hints where i can hire them?

Click on the Nephilim Networks tab before you go on a run?

Also, those Nephilim Network pics are backers IIRC from the little I read on the official forums. Cool pics, cheap mercs and well armed, what's not to like?

Sadly that was my experience with the few I did hire... ONE was pretty decent but the rest, for what they have and their price they charge weren't worth the cost...

Then again, could just be my aversion to hiring Mercs over good ol' "honest" Runners... ;)

Well, they are good as a meat shield, thats about it.
Having some drones and spirits on the field helps distract the enemy.
But other than that, yeah, they are not really worth it.
Guess the devs didn't want to make them OP.

Do they randomize their skills for each person? I've only used a few of them but have had good experiences. Falk, the Dwarven Mage, is a fantastic support mage for me with Haste, Heal, Armor, and later on a good Wall spell. Levy has both a shotgun, assault rifle, strong armor, and very good cybernetic accessories and usually comes to play with at least one med kit. Haven't had any accuracy issues with him whatsoever.

I always take those guys over the cheaper stock Runners.

Edit: Remembered the second runners name.

You should always look into the Fixers runners however ...
famous people (like Dodger) appear under fixer contacts, not under nephilim Network ...
same goes for some NPCs that were already doing a run with you for storyline purposes,
like Coyote ...
after your ways parted you may find them under fixer contacts for hire

One more detail. The Nephillim network looks fixed.

The fixer network if not completely random? Has a large list of shadowruns to draw from and never lists all of them at once.

At least one famous person is in the Network; Winterhawk. Not sure if it's the same one from the books, but his portrait certainly looks like a younger, clean-shaven version of his 4e picture in Street Legends: http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m274/ShadowFighter_15/Street_Legends_Winterhawk_zps1731e8d6.jpg

Yeah, I think they're designed by the people who spent $2,500+ on the kickstarter. I noticed "Alexander Falk" in the credits and went "Whaaaa?", and then looked it up. Pretty cool. Also explains why some are really well designed and others not so much.
