Worried this may be a bug that requires a complete restart with not buying spells with the initial karma.... would rather find out soon than later!
I guess they could've done a better job with the tooltips. Seems to be quite some confusion about that (and the spells for mages as well)
OP's reply that getting new chi casting spells requires you to hit up the vendor first is perfectly accurate, but you still can't swap equipped chi casting abilities.
So when you leave the bar and "take a cab to [wherever]" the next screen should present you with a loadout selection that WILL let you swap your chi casting abilities in and out.
Worry not. You have the spell. You just need to drop off the mana punch or whatever to actually use it.
