Shadowrun Returns

Good Shadowrun novels?
I pre-ordered the game and since I only played the SNES version and never played the tabletop game, I may be missing on some lore and stuff.
I was wondering if any of the fans can recomend some of the Shadowrun novels, I saw that there are quite a few of them https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Shadowrun_books#Novels but I am not sure which of them (if any) are good and where should a "noob" in the series start :)

I am sorry if this is not really related to the game, but this seemed like a good place to ask.

I did pick up Spells and Chrome, a short story anthology, and the novel Neat, both set in the Shadowrun universe. I haven't started Neat yet, but the stories in Spells and Chrome are pretty damn good; some better and more engaging than the others, but all offering unique glimpses into the Shadowrun world. Most leave me craving for more, heh. I hope they release more in digital format....I have way too many books...

Think I got Spells and Chrome a while back. The short-stories in there are from the 2070s, aren't they? Remember mention of the Matrix being wireless and I think a technomancer turned up in one story.

Not sure of the exact time period, I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Shadowrun lore, but yeah the Matrix is wireless, and I've read at least one story with a technomancer.

Ahk, then that's the 4e version of the setting, about 20 years after when SR:R is set (which uses the classic version of the setting from 1st-3rd editions) Still helps to get a feel for Shadowrun, just gotta keep in mind that some of the tech isn't the same as what'll be in SR:R.

I loved the Secrets Of Power series. I read that a long time ago and still think about it now and then. Might be worth a re-read even!

If you grab ONE old novel, get Into the Shadows. It was an anthology of shorts. It was originally the 1st book they printed, then became like #7 on a reprint. I remember really liking it... Of course of all the novels in the box next to me, THAT is the one that is missing... grrrr...

Don't start with them but if you enjoy the setting after a couple the Dragon Heart Saga is an awesome trilogy that covers one of the major events of the old setting. Can be a swine to get hold of but totally worth it

I agree with Dante, Stripper Assassin was good. Its sequel was even better. I can only recall a few novels that werent very good. But I look at Shadowrun fiction like Pizza. When you get a good one, its really good. A bad one is still pretty good.
I cant remember the name of one series, but it followed a Physical Adept Yakuza/ Fuchi exec. A woman with tattoos, who ate all competition. She was so slick, she coupld hack people to bits with her paired blades and not get a drop of blood on her.

The Secrets of power series (Choose your enemies wisley is the first of 4) are the best IMHU, but lucifer deck by Lisa Smedman rocks, as do all the N. Findley ones.

Choose Your Enemies Wisely, Never Trust an Elf, Never Deal With a Dragon?

You can find Jak Koke on Facebook (author of the Dragon Heart Saga) if you want autographed copies. It's personally my favorite series (started with it)

I know it´s about the SR Novels but if you can get a copy of Dunkelzahn´s Secrets - Portfolio of a Dragon - read it, do yourself a huge favor, because it´s THE Events that made Shadowrun the universe it became, imo one of the best SR (Source)Books available.

lol I love Breaking Bad.
Is the Dragon Heart saga the series with one titled " Clockwork Asylum"?
Cause that is one of my favorites, also. Do you know or remember which novel had "Harlequin" and I think Ehran the Scribe together battling " the enemy" on the volcano in Hawaaii?
