You should not have announced Linux support, guys. You should have waited until the distribution channel was set up properly!
So many of us are frustrated with this, and yet it would have taken you probably 1 hour to confirm or deny if the Steam distribution was working or not. And then a day or two to fix it.
You're already late regarding your earlier estimates ("early October", this is mid-Oct), but another day or two wouldn't have frustrated us as much as this.
It will be there eventually, the hard part (the actial coding) is done, now it's just a matter of Valve pushing a few buttons.
