"missed" at point blank range? Rant on hit percentage.
Yesterday, I kept seeing the word "missed" during every combat in the office building. The enemies are MANY and they NEVER miss. I had a guy with a SHOTGUN and he missed REPEATEDLY while standing RIGHT NEXT to his target. His target should not have ANY cover bonuses when there is NOTHING between the shooter and target. How the hell did my guy MISS?

I'm more than a little frustrated with the unrealistic hit percentages. 50% chance to hit should mean, statistically, that about half my shots should hit, but it never works out that way.

And why are all the enemies loaded up with guns that do 14-18 points of damage, but the goons I hired do THREE points of damage with their puny smg? I should've checked their weapon stats before leaving home.

And, to top it all off: enemies that rise from the dead and can't be killed. Okay, so I'm supposed to run. I get it. But that's just cruel.

... isn't the fact you tried to fight a battle you were supposed to run from anyway the whole point of them making the enemies over-powered for that battle?

And this really isn't the first time I've heard of 50% take more than two times to pull off. If you've ever played wurm, sometimes I might have a 60% chance to craft an item, and fail repeatedly, and yet for some reason at a 6% chance (the bare minimum for it to even offer the chance to craft), I can pull it off in only two tries... seems a lot of players in that game have encountered this and just passed it off as how the game works.

You may have also missed at point blank range due to enemies getting points in the DODGE skill. It will show up as a miss, but at point blank with no cover, I'd blame dodge myself.

I did some reading and found some tips:

1. use overwatch.
2. reload before opening doors
3. make sure you have a mage or shaman who can heal, and carry plenty of medkits
4. get the mage or shaman to give you bonuses to aim
5. use distraction spells to reduce enemy aim
6. use speed spells to move your guys faster
7. use slow spells to move the enemy more slowly.

After following that advice, it's been MUCH smoother.
