How to use downloaded BTL in Royale Apartment

In the Royale Apartment, you get a chance to download a BTL on the first floor computer. Is there a way to use this BTL somewhere?

If you download the BTL you can take it up to the penthouse and tell the guard you brought it, and he'll let you pass through without starting a fight right there.

Oh, I was hoping it would be like that.
But I can't seem to download the BTL without getting into a fight with that computer guy. Once he calls the guards, I don't seem to get an option to trick them with the BTL.

I think it can only be used on the upstairs guards. The ones downstairs will go hostile if interrupted.

I know, but how do I download the BTL without making the computer guy hostile?
If the guy downstairs is hostile, it seems to make the guard upstairs hostile too so that I don't get a chance to trick her.

The downstairs guards shouldn't affect the ones up in the penthouse. After you get the BTL you use the intercom by the elevator, and tell the guard that you're bringing the BTL up. Otherwise, he sees you as an intruder. I've killed the downstairs guards and then "snuck" past the penthouse ones numerous times before.

if the downstairs guards make it to the intercom, 2 of the upstairs guards will come down to attack you. they'll still spawn upstairs too, so there's no advantage to letting that happen.

you can intimidate the downstairs guy (ryker, i think) to get access to the computer, and then use the BTL to get further inside upstairs before trouble starts; but coming up via the back stairs and getting coyote into the fight ASAP is the best option, in my opinion. she's the best shotgun in the game, and paco's bloody useless.
