Normally mixing magic with Rigging is a no go since the VCR is so expensive essence wise, though they don't have that here so you could go casting or Summoning, for Phys. Ad. (Chi Magic) you probably need the extra AP for it to really work well.
Ok rifle for the more handy weapon choice Rigger/Rifle seems good. But for magic what would fit best?
What not cool in Rigger is if you don't put points in drone combats your drone end weak and when you do it this means a lot of AP used and then you are mostly forced to use a second drone and then end with 0 or 1 AP without any haste. Without to mention the AP used won't let you much for a mix.
Mmm I wanted try Rigger at replay because I felt it had nice options but I wonder if I shouldn't try shaman instead afterall never played any even with SRR and few UGC started.
In Dragonfall I'm currently playing thu as a Mage with a few Shaman support spells. Basically haste, aim and heal wound on the conjuring side (to replace Dietrich) with Mage attack spells to dish out the damage. I'm finding that pretty powerful and fun to play so far.
Were it my rigger, I'd get pistols 4 to always have ammo, and a big revolver.
You can't really deck because that'll leave you completely without normal weapons (2 drones + deck take all the weapon slots). You can, however, raise decking solely to pass skill checks, if you are so inclined. Or take only 1 drone and not two, but you'll be hugely penalizing yourself.
You can't multiclass much if you wish to be a *proper* rigger. Drones do a huge amount of action WHEN you get all those juicy +AP upgrades -- however, getting both of them requires quite a big chunk of karma already, you'll need to max or almost-max 3 skills. This, plus taking some basic ranged combat, plus some CHA for etiquettes and skill checks, and perhaps even Conjuring to get Haste -- and you'll be already spending every karma point in Dragonfall without much room for anything else.
I'll focus more on basic Rigger ie only one drone ever, at max Rigger 4/5 I don't remember Rigger skills check. And only few points on Drone Combat. This won't spend much points and will allow use a drone for Rigger stuff.
And with that I'll go shaman and base mage. Rhaaa I don't know what to take. :-)
The only reason rigging + decking dont go togeather is because the game makes you spend 11 karma to get a third weapon slot, and once you have it you may as well put a gun in it since you are already going down ranged combat. If not for that it would be perfect. 4 body, then just ignore everything thats not an int related skill. Int and biotech give you enough conversation checks to mess around with, you cant get everything each playthrough anyway, no reason to say charisma past 1 is mandatory.
If you want to try a spellcaster, I'd ditch the rigger part altogether. Even the +1 cooldown from only a datajack can be sucky. If you just want enough drone control for skill checks, you actually don't have to have a drone and datajack for that AFAIK.
EDIT: I think Rigger for replay after a first play with Decker won't be satisfying. It will lead me to the same tracks, no charisma, INT options, and not much Rigger stuff. There's a good amount of Rigger specific stuff during about first 30% of the game but not much after.
