Any way to name / rename a character?

Just trodding along quests and never noticed that my character has no freakin name. Now she walks around saying, "Hi, Im ."

WTF.

There's a dialogue box that pops up at the end of character creation that's labeled "Name your character." You can't hit "OK" unless you put something in the box-- even hitting spacebar is sufficient if that's what you want. WTF, indeed. That said, here's how to change the character name if you're feeling ambitious.

Open the following file (make sure Shadowrun is closed or you risk borking your saved game). Also make a backup copy before modifying to be safe.

Open the corresponding saved game in notepad, then navigate to the appropriate savegame (sorting by date modified is probably the easiest way to find it):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your user ID]\234650\remote\saves

There are two € symbols in the file, and the character's name goes directly *before* the second € symbol. Cheers.

editing in notepad didn't work for me, i used this tool and guide that did though: http://youtu.be/qNQiV0a539A

if you use this editor to go into your most recent storyblock file in your most recent save and then go into the newsave_party properties, you can edit your name and whatnot.

i know this thread is old as hell but its the first result when you google changing your name in shadowrun so hopefully that helps someone out :)
