Shadowrun Returns

Shadowrun Returns

Is this game related in any way to Shadowrun from SNES or it just happen to have the same name?
I loved the SNES version, but it was not turn-based. Yet, the story was interesting.

This game is indeed the same ip as the old SNES Shadowrun. The story here is also pretty interesting, and the game offers the ability to make your own campaigns.

If you like Cyberpunk then you should enjoy this, be mindful though the two campaigns are linear and short what you are really buying is the toolset to make your own shadowrun modules. The campaigns are more or less just a showcase for the toolset.

This is fun. And Jake from the SNES version shows up in the first campaign.

i justthought i should say that it's not based on the SNES game, It's based on the paper game. Which the SNES game is based on as well. If you like the staries, Shadowrun hasbooks as well.

You'll run into a very familiar face early in this game. ;) And almost all of the music in Shadowrun Returns are actually modern remixes of familiar tunes from the SNES game (if you've been playing the SNES version for a long time, it's hard to miss the familiar tunes in SR).

I just about squealed in glee when I saw said familiar face (and you meet him in the same way he's introduced in the SNES game as well!). I have to admit, they worked a few good shout-outs from the SNES and other culture references into the game (Come on; With the picture for Baron Samedi, who else thought of the James Bond villian in Live and Let Die?)

Bonus points for where you "find" Jake. :summerskull:

Baron Samedi is a Voodoo Loa. You see his image quite a lot in pop culture.

NO, but a guy is remaking that campaign for this engine. It's free. In fact, buying these two games (YOu need the dragonfall dlc to play most mods), opens up a bunch of player made free games with the engine. THE SNES REboot is still in alpha, but the original combat was such a huge turnoff for me back then that the new turn based system will be a huge improvement. The opening areas get an A from me so far. Can't wait till it's done..

It's only related by the setting, though Jack Armitage makes an appearance and several tracks of music are inspired by the SNES soundtrack.
Hey there, just wanted to chime in! Like others have said, Shadowrun Returns is the same IP as the SNES game, and is spearheaded by the original creator, Jordan Weisman. It's the same world, tone, and some of the characters as the SNES and Sega Genesis games.

Oh Yeah srry. IP is the same. I meant it is not a straight remake like is being done a lot these days. (like Baldur's Gate etc..)@ Harebrained.. Thanks for making this game. I was off PC for awhile after my last $500 video card passed away. I came back to find steam and greenlight had completely changed gaming. The turn based is waaay better than the combat in the original IMO. Writing is great. And yes, keep putting out official campaigns because DMS is great and I hear Dragonfall is even better! )
