Thanks for the explanation and the link. Good video, but it didn't answer my question.
But maybe I'm just clicking through the screens too fast. I've gotten a couple of these pink "congratulations" pop-ups after finishing a short kart championship, but never noticed any options to participate in the invitationals or to review contracts and change to a different one.
The invitational races appear in your Calendar as do normal career races. This screenshot is taken after finishing Kart One and I have 1 invitational event in my calendar screen (top-left). You can't deny an invitational race, you can choose to not take part. If on this screen you would click on the Finish Season button in the lower-right corner you would be skipping the Focus Challenge: https://www.upload.ee/image/4711707/career0.jpg
After finishing the Focus Challenge I saw this screen. https://www.upload.ee/image/4711726/career2.jpg The season is over and I have to make a choice if I want to renew my last contract or move on.
Best to pick contracts sub menu from top-left and there you can choose where you race in the Season 2: https://www.upload.ee/image/4711733/career1.jpg
To advance to higher tier you have to do well in the championship. Winning the championship is safe bet to advance.
