How to accept a team/event invitation?

I've gotten a couple of these playing the campaign (starting with the karts), but have no idea how to accept them—and they look like I'm getting them after the events take place.

When you do accept one of these, are you changing teams permanently, or is it just for a signe; event?

After certain milestones in your career you get invitational events. All these events should appear in your calendar screen. Those can also take place after your 'main' championship is over. They are single events. You will have a chance to change a team after you see a smallish season finished screen and have to choose to renew your contract or advance to the next tier (if you did well). Thanks for the explanation and the link. Good video, but it didn't answer my question.

But maybe I'm just clicking through the screens too fast. I've gotten a couple of these pink "congratulations" pop-ups after finishing a short kart championship, but never noticed any options to participate in the invitationals or to review contracts and change to a different one.

The invitational races appear in your Calendar as do normal career races. This screenshot is taken after finishing Kart One and I have 1 invitational event in my calendar screen (top-left). You can't deny an invitational race, you can choose to not take part. If on this screen you would click on the Finish Season button in the lower-right corner you would be skipping the Focus Challenge: https://www.upload.ee/image/4711707/career0.jpg

To advance to higher tier you have to do well in the championship. Winning the championship is safe bet to advance.

I won every single race and it never let me choose a contract and put me into 125cc again for a different sponsor I'm confused and angry there seems to be no way to go back
