it is very hard to control i crashed 4 times around the ring when i finally decided to drive it last night, same problem every time for me, i think a brake balance issue but i kept getting into these lazy slides that are just the worst
still this morning i drove it a bit on california highway more how i would if i was only an idiot as opposed to suicidal & it felt very believable to me.
i do think some setup optimizations could be done but to me it just sounds like youre overdriving the car, its a street car & a 20 year old one at th at, its on original tires, these are nothing like hypercar tires today (theyre crap), even with assists on take that stuff into consideration
also it wasnt like hte P1 built to be a great track day car its emphasis was more on pure straight line speed, it should be one of the most difficult cars in the game so if youre having trouble w/ it thats to be expected
I'll follow what you say. This car is a real challenge..
One of the devs (Casey, maybe Doug?) said all the cars have default settings based around ease of handling and you only need to change the settings if you need more speed. If the car is a handful for you, altering set-up will likely make it worse.
I love the F1 but it's hard to drive fast (Rowan Atkinson wrote his off twice!) and only on straights when the rear is perfectly aligned with front and totally stable, are you allowed to floor the loud pedal. Then the magic happens and the rest of the world slows down around you as you overtake car after car :)
Get to know it on the track, not in the menus.
Yep, in the end I used the default settings and got used to the car on the track. Involves a lot of decelaration and early braking. At least I got the fastest lap on a training session against other F1's as AI on 75 difficulty (Only Mclaren F1s in the track)
No to me the cars are set up badly, they allways handle better after a tune (imo). The race cars are set up OK as race cars and dont need much tuning it seems. BUT THEY SHOULD BE SET UP !!!! AS THEY ARE IN REAL LIFE !!! thats the dumbest thing to me :( ... what is the real spring rate for the Pagani Zonda Roadster?????!!!! dumb move in my opinion!
Yeah gotta pay my respects to a guy who not only knows a good car but can drive it as well. But I didn't know he crashed twice, I remember seeing one accident a while back his black F1 looked pretty bad but I remember reading he was going to repair it no expense spared.
It's pretty sad though to see one of the P1's has been written off already, some basketball played totalled it within 24 hours.
edit: here's the article http://www.easyautoads.co.uk/mclaren-p1-totaled-24hours-of-purchase/
This article doesn't mention it but they had to use the jaws of life to cut the roof to get the two out.
ohh and sorry for the derail. :)
