meanwhile a lot of patches have been released and i wanted to ask if the FFB has been fixed and what settings would be best for the wheel?
For me, the biggest difference came when I tested the linearity of my wheel and input the resultant numbers into the appropriate places in the FFB settings.
Here's a thread about doing that, it's not very difficult and instantly "opened up" my wheel more (Thrustmaster RGT w/clutch)
http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?35147-Baseline-controler-FFB-values-Google-sheet-amp-FCM-Universal
And also, I'm using Jake Spade's FFB files, in which he went thru all the cars in game and adjusted their base-line per-car FFB settings -- because the game basically defaults to having most of that stuff turned off, which is dumb
Again, HUGE difference in feel, right away.
And here's that thread with download:
http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?22938-Jack-Spade-FFB-Tweaker-Files
I still go in with each car and tweak some of the settings per-car regarding forward-backward motion and twisting motion. I'm feeling bumps and kerbs fine for most tracks and cars I've used, as well as wheel slip in front and back and wheel "dig" in front.
As good or better than (in some cases) than I was getting with Race 07 and GTR2
FFB 100 in configuration menu, and in FFB calibration I have:
Tire force 100
Soft Clipping (Full Output) 2.20 (this got me very low to no clipping, tune around this value)
Menu and Speed Springs all 0 (e.g. Menu Spring value affects the ingame FFB (?!) - not right)
Steering Gain 1.00
All the rest are defaults. No FFB mods outside the game, no car FFB tricks. This setup got me the reachest FFB so far.
Try RUF GT3@Watkins Glen (strong FFB car on precise geometry and high G-forces); look in graph for FFB clipping in the first turns (descending and climbing) and only tune the Soft Clipping (Full Output) value up if it clips or down if there's way to go until clipping happens.
You might want to set the wheel FFB down to 50-70% while tuning this, to avoid hardware clipping, then rise it as you please afterwards.
Cheers
even with everything i tried (and you need to do like a doctor in FFB settings for this game) the FFB felt even worse then in Gran tourismo 6
you can clearly see the devs have no idea how to fix or do a decent FFB, so they said ♥♥♥♥ it , gave us 1000 sliders and said: "do it your self, we cant be arsed with something like FFB"
well i cant be arsed with your DLC (evem bougtht the classic cars pack in hope you will fix it someday) then, goodbye PCars i waited long enough for you to fix it
I can now feel every single detail of the different road surfaces and the way the tyres are behaving, such as them skipping sideways on a hard corner or even the small lumps and bumps on the road surface. The detail really is quite surprising to me.
From that moment on, any adjustment is straightforward and you will feel the differences
Individual car FFB:
Q: feels too dull?
A: reduce "Fx smoothing" to 0 (might be rough on gear driven wheels, need to try)
Q: still dull?
A: reduce "Fx Scale". "Mz" still gives ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of clean X force (Fx Scale seems to be pCars main FFB issue factor, dulls everything)
Q: moar bumps in mah wheel !
A: increase Fz
Q: moar tire slip in mah wheel !
A: increase Mz
Q: can't control the car (e.g. McLaren F1) at turn exit?
A: decrease Mz Scale, it will lower the wheel inertia feeling
Don't forget about clipping (don't increase values like nutza) and the quality is guaranteed, pCars has pretty good FFB in fact. Just some devs liked driving sponges covered with jelly :)
edit: Fx Scale is literally dumbing down all FFB, so the lower the better...even 0 works well with some cars tbh
