Hope this helps! :)
whats the point of playing the game then , just to .............drive ?

I know right, driving in a race sim, wtf is that all about?

That is exactly the point, to race. The developers' time and money have been put into a top-notch physics model, competitive AI, and accurate reproductions of every car and track featured. Unless you're tuning your setup, any time not spent on track is basically time not playing the game.

Have you ever thought of progressing as a driver ?
Leveling up/upgrading cars isn't really THAT fun after the millions of games that have done that already. Getting faster and better at overtaking.. Then making the right calls when to get which tyres when it starts raining etc is way more exciting in the long term imho. :)

Racing simulators are generally for a more hardcore target audience that play for the enjoyment of driving and progressing as a driver. Understandablely this isn't for everyone, but the idea to remove unlockable content essentially provides more incentive to continue racing, even if you're not winning. You're doing it purely for the enjoyment factor.
My incentive to keep racing is finishing first. 2nd place is first looser.

AC is circuit racing, you can not get out of a circuit.
If you want more fun, you may try GTAV, there are a lot of races in it. And you can customize your vehicle, and get out of it whenever you like, and you can beat other drivers up, if you like to, or make some good friends.
