The OP is referring to the original SuperGT series from back in the 90's called JGTC. Those cars where the stars of that series.

I'm a little partial to JGTC myself. I helped test the original JGTC mod done many years ago for Sports Car GT (yes, I'm that old).
I wouldn't mind seeing some of those in Project CARS, but I personally would prefer something outside the box like a Can-Am DLC. I've never really seen a production quality product for the old Can-Am cars. I think that would be a blast and something not that common in the sim realm.
I don't know about screwed - one car more or less isn't going to make or break pCARS. The car appeared on the WMD>pCARS wish lists at least a couple of times years ago and I haven't heard much about it since. So I realize it's a pretty iffy proposition.
I've never seen it anywhere other than GRID either, but it's in several races at six venues including Spa and LeMans (Circuit de la Sarthe, 1968) in the game. The 787B in the game competes with the Nissan R390 GT-1 at la Sathe (4 laps IIRC); it gets races against Prototype, LMP1 and LMP2 cars in Global races. Codies list the 787B and the Ford Doran JE4 as Prototypes.
Only three of the Mazdas were built and they raced for only two years, but they won the 24 Hours of le Mans in 1991. There is a nice write-up at Wiki.
GRID is an arcade game, but a lot of fun, and I would like to see the Mazda 787B in a sim, this one in particular. Not holding my breath, but there it is.
Toyota Celica 6th generation was successfully used as a race car in Group A car in the world rally championship before it got banned after its first run (which it won) due to "one very cleverly engineered device" turbocharger fixing.
Omitting these cars seem... lackluster, to me.
Nothing is "omitted". Nothing can be used without a license agreement and if these manufacturers either:
A. Don't allow licensing
B. Request too much money for a license
Then there is not much SMS can do. This isn't a big budget title like GT or Forza so they can only license what is available and what can be afforded.
