Are any of the tracks laser scanned?
Very impressed with the amount of tracks in this game and almost every track is a must drive for me. I would assume not all are laser scanned just from the sheer amount of them but are there any that are? Thanks

Some of them are, but not all. Off the top of my head, I think most of the tracks in the UK have been laser scanned, and most of them outside the UK have not been laser scanned. I'm sure there's somebody out there that could give you a more specific list though.

Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Oulton Park and Cadwell Park.

Thanks for the info guys. Looking forward to laser scanned Brands Hatch and Oulton Park for sure.

speaking of tracks in pCARS I assume this has been posted in another thread, but nothing obvious from the recent thread titles.

That's exactly what brought me here.

It makes little sence to lazer scann any track unless you plan to race there yourself in real life.
Its like sending a fake photo of yourself to someone you will never meet, It wont effect the friendship unless you meet face to face.

Also, tracks change over time. Irregularities form, repairs are done, etc... this all changes the face of the track, which makes the laser scanned tracks null and void as perfect renditions of the track.

Yeah but it's still cool to know your driving a track which is 1-3mm accurate? Something like that. You could say the same about the cars, why try and get the physics riight and force feedback. I'm never going to drive a MacLaren P1.

I really don't mind if the tracks aren't laser scanned since they're pretty accurate without it.

Was accurate. As WildKarrde pointed out, tracks change over time. You would probably need to scan them once a year if you want an authentic representation.

It is a cool thing to have laser scanned tracks. laser scanning provides the most accurate detail of the track surface and camber. laser scanned tracks have much more detail than any "handmade track" can include. the track detail combined with good FFB makes for a nice step up in realism.

Read some reviews of the Assetto Corsa nords track; pretty amazing how people who have raced and driven on the real nords are giving compliments to the laser scanned nords. what is even more amazing is now with laser scanned nords it is easy to see how bad the "handmade" nords are in comparison

For me, laser scanned or not is like day and night. Simple as that.

Non-scanned tracks could be just as good as scanned tracks if they're properly dented/texturized.

My point exactly...
( people who have raced and driven on the real nords are giving compliments to the laser scanned nords)
No point unless you plan to drive there in real life.

how would you know your not a racing driver so you can count out knowing the phyx for starters, Real race drivers struggle to relay the info back to there engineers yet games have no problem.....
No point unless you plan to drive there or have and even if you have the odd are you wont remember.
I cant remember what its like to drive up my street let alone a hole racing track.
Its all a load of bs

Yes, "could be" is the operative word.
The only game I can think of with good detailed FFB and non-laser scanned tracks are a few in GSCE and rF2. Even FM5 and GT5/6 tracks are pretty bland and lifeless. All other handmade tracks are pretty much flat. I guess it is a time issue putting in the details with "handmade tracks?"

Another big advantage we are seeign with laser-scanned tracks is that with new scanners are getting cheaper and easier to use. biggest issue still being having to visit and scan the track or buy the laser scanned data.

: )
