Check your graphics/visual settings. If you don't already know, Alt and then return will switch between full screen and windowed.

The first time I fired up the game, the menu seemed normal. I quick race and graphics were non detailed and flashing in and out. Then the over zoomed look started. I tried Alt + Enter and it froze the screen until I did it again.
I reinstalled thinking it was corrupted, but the second time through, gives me same results.

Go to Documents/Project CARS and delete the file(s) called graphicconfig and/or graphicconfigdx11

Then launch the game again, when configuring the visual settings ensure windowed mode is disabled and the resolution selected is the same as the desktop (including the refresh rate)

Leviathan is correct, just had this issue, and deleting the files he mentioned solved it... you have to reconfigure your settings but this time fullscreen will turn on...

You still have to exit the game with the ESC key.The X that was in the upper right corner is gone after the last (ha ha) patch.

I´ve had the same problem and i´ve edited the graphicconfigdx11 like i changed the variable of "Windowed" from 1 to 0 and now it works as usual

Thanks streuselzweg, that worked for me. Is that it then, do you have to play it windowed forever, or is there a fix?

Indeed, once changed to windowed mode, the game is unable to set itself back to fullscreen mode without editing the config file. Failing at trivial things such as these makes a great impression :104:

And no borderless windowed option either.

Thanks for the info! And you don't need to delete graphicsconfigdx11.xml, just change windowed from 1 to 0:
<prop name="Windowed" windowed="0" />

I cannot seem to find the file graphicsconfigdx or graphicsconfigdx11. Does anyone has any suggestion?

Check all display settings in Windows first, then make your way to adjusting display to jive with the game... a little work but keep trying.. it has to do with how your graphics card and monitor are sized up, once you know that, you should be able to go into the game and adjust from there.... its a headache I know...
