Why do Karts not handle at all?
Before I go into details I have actually raced Karts in real life several times and I can tell that they do in fact turn and don't act like you're driving a giant brick with wheels which is a feeling that I have when I tried to do anything with these Karts. They honestly handle more like forklifts with worn out tires than Karts. I have to constantly break to make even the smallest turns even on Amateur and the AI just flies past the corners like they're nothing and I can't ever catch up to them because I have to constantly break since there seems to be nothing but turns after turns with a car that doesn't steer. The ammount of cursing and restarts in just the first few races I had is insane, do I have to win the Kart races or can I just go and lose all of them and wait for the game to get better? Or better yet, is there way to just skip the Karts and try out the other cars instead?

There not as close to the real thing as the cars due to project cars having a suspension model. There's a knack to driving them I feel like they need to be driven harder then you know they should.

Are you on a controller? Most will tell you the controls need a lot of tweaking if you on a controller to be playable.

Yeah, I use a controller. I did a lot of tweaking acoarding to this but it doesn't help, the Kart's understeer like mad

Yeah you can tell the game when you start the career what series you want to start in. The default is kart racing. I had no trouble with the karts to be honest. However I didnt play the AI at full strength either. To me the Ai while good is slightly cheap in some ways. They can drive thru anything. They dont suffer in the rain. I think if your having trouble with the carts understeering you can lower the tire pressure and that will allow more grip that should help with that issue.

I have driven a few cars that understeer in this game.

It didn't ask me where I want to start in, it tossed me into kart racing. I don't want to do kart racing and even after winning the gold it's still making me do more kart racing.

EDIT: I am so done with these unresponsive karts that do spinout from lightest tap to anything and my kart flying into lap of other drivers since they brake suddenly and I drive into them, making my kart flip on top of them and to have them drive around, while dragging me around.

Or them swerving me off the road and me getting the penalty for it saying I cut the road despite them slamming into my side to cause me to swerve and they should be getting penalty for that instead of me.

Seriously, this is ruining the entire game for me.

Try setting up another account. Fill out your name and stuff. The next screen will be what event you want to start in. Its got touring and the FR series and the rest are all opened up. The first 2 spots are kart racing the next sets are all regular cars. Its on the next screen after you finish with your name and country and number. It will allow you to race into the bigger cars first. Make sure you dont click on the carts just click on the series you want to race in.

Here is a video that shows the next screen I was talking about. Skip to the 1minute mark to see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXl4JTliqvM

I think you can also skip races not sure how it affects the career.

If you want a decent kart simulator....

http://store.steampowered.com/app/415600/

If you want a more general sim experience with good karts, Automobilista or rFactor 2.
