War of the Vikings shutting down

Greetings everyone,
I'm afraid that today I am the bringer of bad news. After much consideration and discussion we have decided that it's time we close down the servers for War of the Vikings / Roses. This was not an easy decision to make as we know we have an awesome community that supports this game but, sadly, all good things must come to an end.

The servers will be shut down on February 28th 2017 and we are currently in the process of removing it from Steam, our own store, our partners as well as turning the in-game store off. Also, before you ask, no, I'm afraid we won't be able to implement a LAN option for you to host your own games as we don't have developers working on the the game.

We want to thank all of our players for supporting the game over the years since it was released and we really hope you enjoyed yourselves!

REFUNDS
No refunds will be issues unless you bought the game within two weeks of the announcement being shutdown was made. This also only applies to purchases made on Paradoxplaza (since we can't refund purchases from other vendors).

Well, can not, leave at least 2 servers please, we do not mind the money on the game, but we have a great desire to play in the Viking, you can not just take this desire we have, we love this game and love to play it , it is not right to close it !!!

No, because they are moneygrubbers that do not want to let us host our own servers, all they would have to do is to end the contract with multiplaygameservers.com but they refuse to do that because they are afraid that someone will steal the intellectual property since that could lead to people making better games than this.

Yeah, these devs/publishers suck.

As for all the players, past and present, even with all the crashes and hit detection "rework" and all other bugs we had some good times. I will miss this game.

Oh, that's a great way to thank us! I don't even want to imagine what Paradox does to players they don't like. Do they melt their eyes with acid or something? ^^

Although I knew this day was coming since the moment WotV was ditched, it's still pathetic to see Paradox finally pulling the plug.
I'm not gonna buy any other Paradox game and, whenever the topic comes up, I'll be sure to tell every player I see how Paradox handled the whole thing. Paradox's attitude has been beyond appalling.
And please, spare us the "After much consideration and discussion" BS, the decision was made the day the game was ditched, two or so years ago.

I'd say I enjoyed the ride, but Paradox has managed to ruin it at every turn.

I think teh problem is maintaining teh backend. It probably has made little sense to maintain teh back end for the games this long.

It sucks for players who have just bought the games and have been working on making them work though.

Guys! Let's start a petition to Gabe Newell removed Paradox Interactive from steam with the War Franchise. I think it would be fair to players who have purchased the product and soon will not be able to use it.

I dont have any appreciation for this decision! Wasting potential, it IS the best melee combat game ever been developed! Even with the several bugs, ghost hits and many more problems, it was always fun, intensive and really skill based.

The only bad decision was to stop any further development, patches and general maintenance.

Makes Paradox to a greedy and profit motivated publisher like Kalypso or many more bad apples in this business!

You are about to kill my favourite game, the first game ever which I was ALWAYS able to play and the fun never ends!

Now it ends because of the decision of brain- and soulless business manager ♥♥♥♥ !

I swear to all paradox buyers, you ll see the quality will decrease constantly in further games ! I already noticed in Stellaris!

Best case would be if the good employees and developers would establish a new company and starting over with the right soul and attitude!

This is ridiculous. I bought this game about 2 years ago but never got chance to play it and then took a huge break from gaming (Roughly a year) and have recently started playing this game. I have gotten into it and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it. I have never played something that has kept me coming back like War of the Vikings has.
I come home from work and instantly jump online to play. I have just began ranking up and gaining skill to be told that the game will be shutting down. This is absurd. There may only be a small player base, and not even enough to fill a server some nights, but the people who continue to play, love and cherish this game. I see the same names every night and have added most of them on Steam and began making friends (Hi Nepgear and Jay"99x" if you are reading this)
If Paradox do follow through with the decision, I will no longer buy anymore of their games and will also strongly reccomend no one else to either.
Yes the game may not be perfect, yes it may be infuriating at times, but every player has a place in their heart for it.
Tl;dr
This game may have issues but everyone who plays loves it, Paradox will no longer gain mine or my extensive friends list's support and they most definetly better refund my money for this game if I can no longer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play it. Shutting the servers off for a purely online game and not refunding the players is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous.

I hope that is not true, it would be VERY scummy. Honestly everyone in the industry is scummy. Anyone would act nice about it...especially to those who bought Valhalla edition. I am so glad I didn't buy that garbage.
