I started playing after the release of season 2. I am enjoying the game so IMHO these 50€ were well spent.
Already have diablo immortal for free dubt make it too.
They also gonna release a first paid expansion for D4 by the end of 2024, so that would mean that D4 will actually cost the same or even higher that it is right now, the same way SnowRunner does; The base game got discounted, but because once a year they add a new expansion to the bundle, and by doing so the game with expansion has the same cost as the base game had during the release days!
This season I'm taking my cosmetics money to the less inept sellers/publishers.
Not only is it not gonna be F2P starting next year they are doing yearly expansion release, yup you heard that right, yearly expansion release. Surely those will be amazing if they only have a year of Dev time on it plus having to release 4 seasons per year right ? Oh and you can bet those expansions are gonna be 40-70$ so if just the base game seems high for you just wait until there's 5 expansions to buy as well.
They went from 10, 20, to 40% off since the game was released and lost 99% of the player base. I don't see how $70 expansions are going to work for a game that no one plays. Isn't it more likely that we'll see even deeper discounts on the base game to drive up population in order to sell them expansions? For example, a few months before releasing an expansion that contains the base game, before enticing them to buy the base game again that includes the expansion. Unless the expansions aren't wrapped up into one like they usually are.
Actually it doesn't even mater. Just talking about this ♥♥♥♥ turns me off. Even if the game was free I don't really have a desire to be farmed by blizzard.
On the other hand you are wrong about selling it for 70$ if they want do, simply because that decision is made by people who just look at how many people bought the game, how many idiots bought the 100$ edition and make the decision that 70$ for an expansion is alright. ( Could be 50 for a "poor man" edition and 70 for the "Ultra ultimate 666 diablo still not in his own game" edition )
Edit: And yes im also absolutely disgusted by this whole D4 thing, biggest buyer's remorse i've ever had in my whole life i can tell you that much coming as a huge fan of ARPGs and Diablo in general, even though i didn't particularly love D3 i still prolly sank 1-2k hours over the years in the game but D4 after like 40 hours and one character to 90 im pretty much done forever.
I guess it depends on if they are rolling up each expansion into the base game to keep the perceived value of $70, or what ever it is. If they do what was implied earlier of having to buy 5 expansions separately from the base game then I don't see how that's going to work. It wouldn't make a difference for people who play the game, but for someone just trying to get into it, it would be a big deal.
It just seems to me that the elastic sweet spot for blizzard would be free to play the base game, expansions require purchase. That, or they're at least already making plans for it to be in the Microsoft game pass. Either way I think this current sale is a ploy to milk as much as they can initially before going full cash shop and DLC model, so in that regard 40% off is still 100% too much.
Take a look at the successful Warframe plat pricing and or postal stamps sales scheme, you unpaid interns (postal stamps sales scheme is described nicely by Terry Pratchett)
PoE2 will just kill this boring pile. Blizz always was way too much greedy. But now they decided it was not enough. I just stopped to play this after I bought season 1. And NO, I will not buy your believes again. Release big story DLC - then maybe we'll see if you deserve some money Newblizz.
And yes - you disappointed me with D3 last DLC cancellation. So much lost potential. For this..
I played a lot of F2P games (including Warframe and DoAXVV), but discounts on premium currency packs is a rare sight, I don't think ActiBlizz will ever agree to that, because people probably would just stop buying premium currency packs, if they knew that they can save big by waiting for the next discount on premium currency. It's either need to be a very small discount like -20% off max, or it should be done by adding temporary currency packs that give more currency than normal packs, but they are tied to some big event like new season release or new expansion release, so the players knew that they would have to wait for a year for the next discount on premium currency (and again it shouldn't be done as a discount, but as timed offers for a additional packs with bigger amount of currency).
