15 minute to download the patch and 5 hour to...
Hey, is anyone else having this issue? I downloaded the 5GB patch, and everything was fine until then. But now it's been almost 4 hours applying. What's going on

new SSD incoming
I'm having this happen as well

Mine is taking about 15 min, but that's still longer than it should. I've discovered that it's downloading and doing something on E drive which is a HDD while Diablo is installed on D which is an SSD. *shrug* Weird.
Would never have bought this if I knew what they were going to do with these patches, joke devs.

It's not Diablo, it's Steam. Likely if you had it on battle.net the patch would be much smaller.

Steam is terrible at patching. Another game I have World of Warships is the same way. With their own launcher patches are done in a fraction of the time on Steam. If anything in a file has changed, Steam will redo the whole file even if it's huge instead of taking 1 second to patch a tiny bit.
Yeah it's steam... I just downloaded the 500mb patch (after patching yesterday) and I am looking at 1 to 2 hours for it to apply. (probably 3, the estimate is a big fat liar.) Ugh...

I really hate it, but nothing to be done. It feels almost punitive for having it from Steam.

Sometimes it is faster to uninstall it and re-download. No way to really tell ahead of time though.

Well I didn't pay much attn until this conversation...
But as I said above, mine was downloading to an HDD. If you can, you could disable that from your Steam library. I'm betting Steam defaults to the drive with the most free space. If it was downloading to a good SSD I would think it'd take less than 5 min. Mine was 15 min or so overall, but it's fast for an HDD. A mostly empty 14 TB drive.

Actually it's on my SSD. It'd probably be much much worse. Still it seems to actually only taking 45min this time and not lying about too badly (it said 35 min). So... eh.

My computer is a dinosaur, a beast of a dinosaur, but still older. Just enough to play at a high setting for a pre-4k monitor, but yeah... from what I've heard though even some of the newer systems still have a bit of a wait if they are updating on steam since it wants to patch the -entire- set of game files every time.

What was the update actually about? I don't see notes here.

i already have installed on a nvme, its the only game that gave me this problem
It's a small patch, but it has to process a huge amount of data to apply it.
