Campaign Story kept me engaged to the end .... but now what?
I was really hoping the game had more good stories to follow in the game .... I played as Sorcerer 1st time all the way till end - I really enjoyed the whole campaign with good stories and the acting was very good! So decided to play again with Druid, but stopped about 80% through since realized it was exactly linear from that point on and already knew the story.

Then the new season with witchcraft which is kind of nice, but realize now that is not a new campaign but just a side perks to add .... which actually has made my Druid incredible powerful at this stage - going through enemies like hot knife and butter. I really liked the campaign, just wish they had more in depth stories and DLCs to enjoy (but the only DLC so far is not getting good ratings). PS. I am at about 100+ hours at 1.8x through campaign and most side missions to give perspective - maybe that is the extent of game (so got money's worth).

I don't get why people just keep playing this game after campaign is over - I find all the hack slash kind of boring after I have killed so many thousands already in just 2 campaigns (solo games). Instead of having different seasons for perk changes, wish instead they were building compete stories (like Witcher series, each DLC had complete story worth investing in). I think that is the cash cow to Diablo, not finding heads for tree or whatever they come up with next. I mean without a fundamental story to follow don't people just get tired of all the hack-slash? I just don't get it I guess, why someone wants to keep playing after campaign? I love the environment and details in game, just wish I could find something else in the game to motivate me to play again.

Every side quest has a story too. Crank the difficulty up and each story gets longer.
My character is already paragon 20, and I even haven't killed Lilith yet.

I recommend picking up various side quests on the map. They're fun & engaging & are fully voice acted too.

Yes, I have played most of the side quest .... about 10% were good the rest are just kind of errands vs. story.... I have about 100 hours in so far and that includes side quest and 1.8 campaigns finished. I try to do quest by areas so not just wasting time running around, I utilized the quick travel points to optimize my need to use horse travel.... and later I just stopped fighting on my way between 2 points since tired of the mindless hack and slash on the road travel - you can usually just out maneuver them vs. have to fight. I wish they had fewer side mission with more story - after a while all the fetch ones wear you down...

Don't have to recommend him anything. He doesn't know the story or he will talk about it and discuss the characters.

He is just another toxic, hate train follower who thinks diablo story is crap and short. It isn't.
You seem very defensive!! I said I liked the campaign ! To killing Lilith, the various partner that aid you with good stories (the girl who loses arms, the king and his son, the old man who gives his head to tree, etc.) ..... You sound like you have some pers. issues!

Yep , already did most of them and 2nd time through did not do the mindless fetch ones .... I liked the one with oak tree revival, some other ones, but few and far between since most are fetch quest..... oh , and liked helping the lady in camp cast out demons of those possessed - was hoping it got more involved but did not really (after her own possession).... the goose lodge one, the special axe, hmmm - can't think of any other good ones off top of head. I did almost all side quest on 1st run which is why I was at like level 50 only about half way through game.... easily 60 after that and hence killed Lilith very easily in end.

PS. I don't know what I did right in the 1st run through but I found this area that had sacks of these tokens (in a main city) I was able to cash in for great gear (highest level) ..... I remember going to a small area, some basic tables in circle, in city and there was large bag of stuff (token).... but on 2nd play through could not find it anywhere ..... but that made my 1st run so much easier as sorcerer, with all the high end gear - her defenses were very strong early. You cash the tokens in for gambling for gear from the one lady outside of the lodge with smith. Maybe it was some very odd random event for single player 1st play through - but it was fun paying to random pick the gear (thousands of tokens, so eventually got awesome gear).

Football, Baseball, Bowling, Poker, Monopoly, Tetris...

Some people enjoy playing a specific type of game, they aren't interested in the story. I've been playing since the first one (not much of Immortal), and I couldn't tell you much about the story. I am just here for the smash and grab.
OP why don't you try the season? I was, almost, in the same situation with you until I started joining (not by joining a party-I just followed them and joined the fight) other players that were hunting down the husks (or whatever they are called). It is a nice experience. Spells everywhere, lots of enemies all in the same time. Pure excitement.

I feel exactly the same... I love the series but only keep coming back when a new expansion is released , since its the only time when a new content is added.
I wish they would add new content not in a form of seasons, but instead similar to WoW content patches. New zone(s) to explore, a storyline or two to play through, meet some new characters, some side quests , new music, new enemies, some additional lore, some new feature and items etc. Which is way more work rather than shuffle variables around for a season, but there is no sub fee so I can't complain here.
I've played through a couple of seasons in D3 and in D4 - and they were great, as I was new to the game and challenge was a welcome change from a campaign difficulty. But now that I have finished the campaign, all side quests, strongholds etc. and completed 2 seasons on max difficulty with every single season journey objective - there is nothing keeping me engaged anymore, every new season is just more of the same.
