Just make a new character and don't tick "skip campaign".
What I really miss is the character re-birth functionality from D3. Deleting my "old" characters isn't terribly fun, to put it mildly
But any character can get a merc if you got the VoH expansion? After the base-game campaign, there is the VoH campaign. Only when creating a Spiritborn, iirc it defaults to him skipping the base campaign and directly starting the VoH campaign.
As I am taking a break currently, and only played one char (Spiritborn) this season, I don't even know how it is with new characters, can you skip just the original campaign but keep the VoH campaign? Or is it just "either doing both campaigns or skipping both"? Although I guess you can't skip the VoH campaign yet, maybe with next season.
I still hope that one day they give you an option to start the story over and over again with the same higher level character without having to start a new character.
