Transfering battle account from PS5 here.

I plan on completely ditching PS5, and because I spend over 2k hours playing there and pretty much get most of the available cosmetics unlocked, I would like to know if I will need to farm them from the beginning if I buy this game here.

more than likely you will need to farm again. it's a different license for each store (steam, blizz, ps5, ect) and I doubt you can share progress.

That's wrong, no matter the plattform you are getting the game on, it will require you to link/create a Battlenet account, and that account will share progress over all plattforms it is linked to.

As long as they are all linked to the same account, your progress is shared across Bnet/Steam/GamePass/Xbox/PS5. Only you need a seperate license of the game for each plattform to access it on that plattform.

@OP: So when you buy D4 on Steam, you simply link it to the same Bnet account as your PS5 and you are fine.

Diablo 4 is cross-save and cross-platform.

Your game account is already from battle net.

So the only thing you'll be missing is that you have to rebuy the base game and expansion. Every cosmetic stuff is shared.
So you can choose to buy cosmetic stuff wherever you want, in the console, in the blizzard app or blizzard webpage or in steam, or through the game on any platform.

You only have to link with the correct battle net account after launching the game.
You probably have to link with steam too in the battle net account itself on the blizzard site.

The only issue you might have is if you had the DLC for one platform, but not another.

the game has crossprogression, meaning you can continue with your stuff in other platform, regardless of the store, pc/bnet are the same although you can only use 1 of them, if you buy the whole thing because you are ditching ps5, get the whole thing on bnet, or in steam when goes on sale.
