How do you play the base game?

I played the demo and decided to buy the full game and expansion. I deleted my demo character (because I wasn't invested in them and just playing around). When I created a new character, it started me off in a town and they already describe the character as having ingested Lilith's blood and the girl who took Mephisto. How do I start from the beginning? It feels like I'm starting from the expansion instead of the base game.

when you create character, there is option to change campaign to start from base game instead of dlc, change it then you start from beginning
