How challenging is the campaign?
I hear a lot about endgame and blizzard changing things up to get there even faster and faster with every update.

Not even sure if that's true, but back to the point: is the campaign any of a challenge? Is it something were you start weak and need to farm to get stronger to overcome later acts / zones or is it just a mindless slaughterfest?

Also probably going to play mostly solo, at least for the campaign itself.

Still not sure if this is the game for me though, that's why I ask. I prefer hitting a wall once in a while and needing to farm/upgrade. Again, not talking about endgame.

It provided a little challenge (if you start from Tier2 difficulty right away) when the game was release. Now after 5 seasons its super easy. I replayed it last week and died 0 times

Ugh, ok..
Thanks for your reply though.

But this is only about the campaign which is only the beginning. You will definitely will have to farm on high levels, and this is actually the main point of the game. There is literally "skip campaign" button when you play seasons.

Campaign difficulty was a joke. I was hopelessly overleveled anyway thanks to the event, and the fact that you can't go higher than World Tier 2 before finishing the campaign made it so much worse. WT2 is a joke difficulty-wise. I don't know why they don't allow you to go WT3 or 4 before finishing the campaign. Bosses literally died in 1 second, it was so anticlimactic...

There is a major change coming on October 8th with the release of a chunky patch 2.0

One of the redesigns is the entire difficulty system. Yes, the campaign WILL be quite challenging after patch 2.0 goes live as long as you pick Expert or Penitent difficulty.

So if that's specifically what you are after - wait for patch 2.0 to release and play the game then.

You can get it on Game Pass if you aren't sure if you want to buy the full game right away.

Yeah right now the difficulty is way down.

Have you checked out anything about Patch 2.0, though? :D

They are very much going to let you tweak difficulty going forward!

This is probably the easiest game I have played since..... actually I've been playing games since the NES and can't come up with a game that provided less of a challenge.

Extremely easy.

Yeah if you just want a good campaign, this is not the game for you at all.

Easily the top3 best overall campaign in the history of hack'n'slash games, and the only other competitors are Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 which all belong to the same franchise as Diablo.

I personally think Diablo 4 has the best hack'n'slash campaign, period.

Story-wise it's really good. Difficulty-wise it's a joke. Also don't mention Diablo 3 alongside 2 and 4. 3 was trash, both in gameplay AND story.

On release it was decently hard, but the power creep since release definitely made the game too easy.

Tempering especially tipped the scales nowadays. But after me testing PTR of patch 2.0, I am confident that the extra difficulty levels - once they have final tuning on patch 2.0 release on October 8th - will make campaign very enjoyable challenge-wise once more.

Even if you do zero tempering it is still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy. If you want to die once you have to put a serious effort into making it happen.

That would be amazing.
Looking forward to this.

Ok, I'll keep this game on the radar.
Thanks!

Super easy. Maybe it was different at release. I bought this game couple weeks ago, and by the end of the second act I was almost level 50 . And by the end of the campaign I had gained only 3-4 lvls. Zero challange, all bosses died in 2-5 second. Start the game on tier 2 and rush the campaign. Dont do any sidequests till the end. Just play the campaign, have fun with the story and cutscenes. And after end of the campaign move to tier 3-4.
