2024 and still have fixated keybinds like #?

I can not find the reason why you have to have the key # bind to opening chat no matter what.
I can not even unbind or delete that key but since I am using all the keys in proxy of my # and often in heated situation I mistakenly press it which could lead to dying since my char can not do any interactions or skills anymore when you have open your chat window!
